Hi guys I have been tracing my tree since March this year and have got back to C1805 my GGG-Grandfather. Your tips on here have been very uselful in my research and I would like to thank you all, however, what are the chances of tracing the family back any further than this. My family are all Middlesex, London born. Am I heading for a headache or a brick wall. Thanks again Linda

depending on the Parish, you could be able to get well back into the late 1500s ..... Ive seen mid 1600 parish records in the IGI for some of my lot. use this site to ascertain which parishes have been batched and uploaded by the Mormons in their IGI subset of Familysearch+com. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb+com/~hughwallis/ (change the + to a '.') Also use GOOGLE to see if Family History Socs have transcribed records NOT in the IGI

If all your family were born in Middlesex it is very likely the early generations will have come from anywhere in the country and gone there to find work as most of the population in that area did. When you get back to the 1841 census you may be able to find if your family came from elsewhere and then you can turn your attention to that area. Meanwhile, you can try familysearch IGI or ancestry for Pallots Marriages but in the end it will require some leg work to look at parish records. Good luck. Sometimes it can be so easy - Im back to 1550 on one side but have spent over 18months trying to find the marriage of a couple who were born in 1735. Drives you nuts.

Laird is right. You'd be best to next try to see if any of your ancestors have their pabtism's or marriages recorded on the IGI and you can either go to www*familysearch*org (for a general countywide search) or the above address which is better if you know the parishes.

TC makes a good point about Middlesex being a 'homing-point' for workers. Try and find an old map (Google) and you will see that Middx spanned todays Greater London from East to West, going north of the Thames. If you look at 1841-1861 (maybe 71) census you will see places like Kensington in the west described as Middlesex, as well as areas now considered the 'East End', and inner areas like Paddington, Marylebone and Pancras. Today Edmonton is the NE limit, and to the West, Staines area maybe the closest to the metropolis still called Middlesex. If you know the areas by name - rather than just London, Middx, you can search that Hugh Wallis site for the parish names, and then simly click to link to the IGI search-engine.
