Are there any websites where you can find date of death of a person. Would it have their date of birth and death and how they died? Or would you only get that information on an actual death certificate? thank you |

You would need to search on 1837 online for the certificate to get the date I think. |

In most cases the only way to get the date of death is to order the certificate, this use to give you the age of the deceased but more recent ones have the of birth but I'm not sure when it changed. The exeption are war deaths (ww1 & ww2 mainly) that are recorded on the Commenwealth war graves commision website but these offten have death certificates as well but CWGC have more info in my experience. Cause of death is only shown on certificates if it was recorded when the death was registered. |

Birth dates were put on death certs from 1969. But they are often wrong - my own grandfather's death cert has his date of birth out by a year. nell |

Of course, Natalie, if any of your rellies died in Scotland from 1855 to whenever it is Scotland's People goes up to these days, you would be able to get the death certificate up online and see date and cause of death etc. right away! I don't think it has date of birth on the death cert though. Kate. |
