Got this from Googling. It seems the Hall was still there in 2000:- Scroll down to browse all News features or select a link to an item of particular interest. Show jumping show report Introduction to Foresters Website Foresters Member's Charity Show Success - July 2000 Next News Item Results of showjumping show Upshire Hall - 6th August 2000. Preparations were underway the day before at Upshire Hall with a superb team of helpers, some recruited by Kevin Woods from Pipers Farm, to help build the course. Everyone kept a vigilant eye for any 'Rain Dancers' but none could be spotted (they must have read my previous reports). Everyone's efforts resulted in a well designed course being built, and I am sure that a lot of useful course building tips were picked up along the way by the helpers. Helping at a show not only assists the organisers but can be educational and best of all it's free! The day itself got off to a good start with the sun shining and all in good spirits. Well most were in good spirits. Not quite sure about Madam Chairman (Jan Taylor) who may have had one too many good spirits the night before and decided that the show was lacking a Rodeo class. Needless to say Sophie dumped poor Jan before she even jumped a jump and had to withdraw from the first class. All the classes produced some good competitive jumping. Katie Dartnal on Burrywood Aristocrat won the Minimus and Kerry Drewe riding Tilly won the Novice. Entries for the Pairs class picked up on the day with quite a few combinations having a go. Scott Hickson on Sassy Lady and Belinda Crane on Valentine Boy just pipped Christine Stride on Dutch Casenova and Charlotte McCaughey on Jasper into second place. With a change of rider and realising that she wouldn't suit a Western saddle anyway, Jan's horse Sophie won the Intermediate ridden by Claire Savage-Roberts. The Open class was won by Lisa Sharp riding Sharp Edge who demonstrated some excellent jumping. All in all we had an excellent turnout. Opening each course for clear round jumping once again proved to be a tremendous success giving riders the opportunity to ride the course before the competition. Our thanks to Mrs Audrey Tuck for the use of Upshire Hall, to Kevin and Alison Woods for course building and judging and to Alison's mum for taking the entries on the day. Of course it goes without saying that all our helpers on the day did a sterling job so a thanks to them also. Kath. x
