It gets worse - my contact has messaged me to say that she tried to open the view that I sent via Ancestry and her computer crashed:(( I have now saved and sent them from my computer but haven't heard from her since. I am feeling very guilty:(( |

I think it is probably something to do with their firewall. I have had no probs with most people but now and then this happens. It isnt because people arent subscribed, I sent several images to someone last week no problem. Then I tried to send a couple to a chap off GR and he couldnt open them - he said he often has a prob with attachments. |

When you have clicked to view a census image. Click save which should be right next to share. You right click on the image and save it to a location on your hard disk, easiest is to the desktop. Then use your email program (online email or outlook express) to send the image via attachment (look and add the picture to the email) and send |

I believe that when you use the 'email to a friend' option from within Ancestry, the recipient still requires a subscription to Ancestry in order for them to be able to open the image. It all seems a bit pointless really - if they had a subscription, then why would they need someone else to find the image for them? I suspect that it's just Ancestry's way of gleaning email addresses of people who may have an interest in genealogy, so that it can add them to their spamming lists!! Much better to save the image to your PC and then email it to them independently of Ancestry - that way, you're not adding your friend's address to Ancestry's database! Richard |

Steve Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. Do I save it somehow and then send it from express? If so, how do I save it please? Chrissie |

Could anyone please tell me why, when I send a census page through Ancestry on the share facility, the person I sent it to has got the e-mail ok but cannot open it. Any suggestions gratefully received:)) Chrissie |
