How can he be listed as... Edwin WILLIAMS b:abt 1840 - Street Issa, Wales (1881) then also as.. Edwin WILLIAMS b: 1840 - Rhose Wales, Denbigshire (1871) It has to be the same man as he's listed as the Head of the family on both census, with Ightfield, Shropshire as the residence. Wife's details are also confusing, b:1833 (1871) and b:abt 1834 (1881) the children all match. Any ideas please? Thanks. Magi

I shouldnt worry about it - mine change place of birth at will - it just depends on where they are living at the time, if they have moved from a small place then they will probably give the nearest big town to the enumerator. The birth dates again, no worry a year is nothing. It may be that she was born just before or just after a census day. I dont think this is a problem at all. Have you sent off for their marriage certificate? That will give you their fathers names and jobs and you can then look them up.

I'm pleased someone else has the same problem. Getting certificates from here isnt easy. I try to get them sent to my cousin in the UK and she passes them on. Makes it easier somehow. Never mind will do some more digging Thanks

Janice, You're a star, couldnt get them on 1861. has to be them as Sarah was born in Malpas. Only confusing thing is his age. ıf he was born 1840 he'd be 21, but hey, I'll try anything to get them sorted. Now you've got me going as that means her maiden name could've been Price. Wow, talk about history repeating itself, my dad's sister married a Price too. Thanks Janice, off to check it out :)

I never expected it to be easy, but this is something else. Now I have to figure out whether Sarah is a PRICE or a BROOKFIELD? Oh well, I took the day off for a reason I suppose, here we go again....

Dont despair, I think you have a really good little case going here - wait til you cant find them being born or married but just dying!

Now the trails gone cold! I'm totally discombobulated now. They've all disappeared in 1891 and then reappear in 1901, think I'll sitck with the Nash's for the rest of todays search. Williams lot seem to repaet family names constantly...
