Or are they practically unreadable? It's my birthday in 3 weeks and I could get my husband to buy me one but don't want him to waste his money. Thanks Lyn

Hi Lynn Like any of the early census, there are parts that are unreadable and parts that look like they were only written last week! I have them both and find them invaluable, but unless you have a lot of ancestors all over Lancashire, you might be better off keep asking for lookups and splash out on something else! Lou

Lou A belated thanks for your reply (I've been out celebrating my husband's birthday). I think I will take the plunge and go for the 1851 as most of my ancestors are from Manchester / Salford (except the ones from Ireland). Thanks again. Lyn

Manchester and Salford are where most of mine are and they're pretty intact (although feint in parts but you can usually zoom in for clarification) so I doubt you'll feel you've wasted your money! Lou

That's interesting Lyn + Lou - Most of mine are from Salford too. Where can you get the discs and approx. how much do they cost please.? Dea x
