For 2 years I have been searching for a guy who married in 1869 age 21 had umpteen children and on all but one of those certs he was named Lewis JANE. On just ONE birth cert he was William Lewis JANE and thats how he died too ... problem is He was NEVER born. E Cornwall registrars getting tired of looking. Took me 18 months to find birth of one of his daughters - she was incorrectly shown as JANES and so were her parents !! Maybe there is a Cornish translation of JANE ? his birth should be 1846-49 and more likely to be 47/48. Then his marriage cert shows his Dad as George - and that seems to be a name hardly used in E Cornwall cos I only found two possibles in the area and neither of them is THE Dad. Never Mind - Good Fun innit ?? |

> who married in 1869 age 21 There have always been some individuals who, for whatever reason, simply never got into either a parish record, or a civil registration record, especially in the period before civil registration became a legislated compulsion. There simply may not be any record to find..... perhaps its time for you to move on to something else. Cheers, Bill Sydney, Australia |

The fact that it says 21 on the marriage certificate may only indicate that he was over the age of consent. He may be older than you think. Do you have a death and age on that? |

Brian - naturally I realise that dates and ages are sometimes movableBUT this guy made a very good job of concealing cos all the censuses, marriage cert and his death cert all point to the same period that I have given. |

I have 1851 listings for various JANE families but still no closer to who were his parents - consequently have no idea as to whether he had any bruvs or sisters - and the witnesses ay his wedding dont shed any light, nor do Informants at birth of his children. In all my years doing this I have never come across a non-starter such as this one - but guess there has always to be a first. |

Thank you Sarah and Sinead. Sinead I have sent a message to you. Sarah, Thanks I am aware of the family on the 1841 - the two George Jane are father and son. This may be the family BUT there is no birth recorded of a Lewis, nor of a William to the couple living there according to the Registrar for that area, nor has one been found in other register offices local. Well, hope the weather perks up as I will go to Cornwall before the month is out and then take personal look at the PRs etc., that should be available. Once again - Thank you. |
