I sent for my mothers birth certificate and was delighted when it came 6 days later, i was just waiting for two more rellies certs, when they arrived NO! my mothers B/C again then my rellies then my mothers B/C then my mothers B/C i now have 4 B/Cs for my mother and i am scared to open my mail or send for any more certs, has this happened to anyone else and will i have to pay for these extras i do not need? HELP! heres the postman i must go and hide,MOE!

If you ordered them online from the GRO, then it is their mistake (unless you clicked on 4 for number of certificates needed), so you shouldn't have to pay for the extra ones, but they might ask you to send them back. I'd give them a ring and tell them not to send any more. Kath. x

Should ring them, explain what you have recieved, just in case you clicked on 4 x the same one and not 4 different ones. plead ignorance, stupidity..anything..might get you the other 3 for nowt if nothing else if it is your error!! Jess

Thanks ladies, i don't think this is my fault as i ordered 3 certs at £7.00 per cert they took £21.00 then and there and sent an email to confirm, one of the certs was for my mothers original birth cert (the one i got 4 times) and one was for the adoption B/C but they have just sent the same one with a footnote at the side (previously registered in blah blah) so i understand them 2 but the last one said on the pink slip adjoining it that it cost £11.50 i am a bit confused as i have been getting certs each week so i don't know by my bank statements which is which, so i am going to limit myself from now on to a couple a week, MOE!
