Please could someone help me in finding out a bit more about 1 of my rellies. Back in 2002 i paid someone to do a search on a John Blatchley in return for £60 he looked up some description books and found John had served in the Royal Marines in Plymouth , he told me when he joined and when he left, his age and his hair colour but not much else. I was very pleased at first but going back over old papers i was just wondering if i could find out a bit more like what he did in the marines? Please could someone give me some advise thank you Lita |

Lita, I also had a relative in an army regiment. We searched in the National Archives and found some doc's on him and are going through the process of ordering copies. But also we searched Internet to see if there was a museum for that regiment, there was and there was also an e-mail contact area. See if you can find any Internet sites on the Marines and if they have any contact details, there maybe a phone number, address or e-mail and see if they can give you any advice and if possible if you can visit them if they're not too far away. Just to add a little more to Jay's reply - the Marine Training Centre is at Lympstone, near to Exmouth as well as Exeter. Hope this helps, Mandy :) |
