This is a bit out of the blue but my name is XXXXand I am an independent headhunter working for a client of mine who is a Finance Recruiter in XXX. Your name had come recommended to them by someone or somewhere, and I am just trying to get in contact with you to see if you would be interested in any opportunities either in practice or industry. Could you perhaps let me know whether you would be interested in anything just now, as you could be ideal for some of the jobs they have on currently. I never got anything like that before through friends reunited do you think it is genuine?

Contact GR/FR on this. It may be creep from the Jobs board, but I suspect it is against the Guidelines - on GR at least.

It sounds too vague to be genuine: 'recommended by someone or somewhere'. If a recommendation is any good, its because it comes from a reliable source. 'interested in any opportunities' - again vague. Genuine job opportunities tell you what the jobs are, or at least some details about the kind of company/work involved, etc. nell

Even if they are genuine, they only want to headhunt you to earn themselves some commission. If a specific job was involved, there would be a little bit more info.

Yes i do work in finance, i do get alot of agencies ringing me up as that is the way things seem to work, i also get letters from agencies at least twice a week. it was just a bit suprising as it was the first time i had anything via the internet. I know there is a national shortage of accountants so maybe the agencies are taking different means to contact people
