I have found the Marriage of a Minnie E Langley on the Isle of Wight To Arthur Wells in 1898. Do you think this could be the girl who was christened Marion Eliza Langley in 1872? It certainly would appear so. |

Grampa, I wouldn't dream of teaching you to suck eggs, but for the newbies around: Do you have Marion's birth certificate? Minnie's marriage certificate? Do fathers and occupations tally? Do you have Minnie/Marion on any censuses? Do ages/birthplaces tally? If the answers are all yes, then she probably is one and the same person. If no, or there's an extra Minnie/Marion you can't discount, then it's new theory time. |

If I accept Marion as being known as Minnie, especially as she came from a family of 14 children, so maybe never heard her real name once she had been registered, I have managed to link with almost all the Langleys born on the IoW between 1837 and 1900 except for the children of a Langley female who married a Denton. There are so many that I cannot afford to get every certificate, so maybe I could be wrong in some cases, and now that I have seen the message (thank you) about Minnie of West End/ South Stoneham I can see that I have to reconsider that one. |

Grampa Jim Cannot help with your search but you have just put right a misconception I have had for over 40 years! As a child, we had a neighbour called Marion. Her husband called her 'Mini' - I thought this was cos she was so small. I now realise he was calling her 'Minnie'!!!!! Marjorie |
