I have found a brilliant site with photos of Essex and some East London schools on, including my old one Napier Road, East Ham. Have a look at the West Ham Truant School, even the boys feet are in line! http://homepage*ntlworld*com/kenneth.rose/SchoolIndex.htm replace the * with a . Sandra |

Thanks - as my grandmother was living at New City Rd, Plaistow, that's a definite possibility for her school. She was 11 when the photo was taken, so may even be in it! Sue. |

Sue I just looked at New City Rd, they have cut all the legs off so you can't tell if they are boys or girls! I showed my daughter, Napier - my old school, she said it looks like a prison, and she would have hated going to school in the 'olden days' It was a Primary school, I only left there in 1973! The only thing different about the picture now, is in the playground, there are three air raid shelters. When I was there, they were used for storing the PE equipment. Sandra |
