I am waiting for Mr Postie.... My elder Sister has decided to entrust to me our mothers original birth cert....It's very fragile (90 years old) It's going in pride of place/framed with all my other'most precious' certs on the walls of my stair case ( I may need to move house very soon for a bigger staircase) lol A very proud Gerri x |

That's brilliant Gerri, I don't have any original certs earlier than my mum's birth. It's a great feeling when you have something that precious in your hands. I've got a page torn out of a pocketbook, with the writing in pencil, which was the letter sent to an ancestor telling her that her son had been killed in France in WW1. It was amazing to touch it. Gerri, How lucky you are. I have nothing before my father's birth certificate in 1913. There are no photographs in my part of the family of my grandparents (3 of whom died when I was very young). They seem very surreal to me. Keep promising myself I will try to find their graves. Jean x. |

Hi Gerri, I am very lucky, my Mum was the keeper of all the families certificates, I have original BMD certificates of all my grandparents and even my grans first marriage certificate before she married my Grandad, plus some of their brothers and sisters. Mind you I didn't know she had them until she died 2 years ago. That was what started me on my Family Tree Linda |

hi, i was lucky enough to see a marriage certificate belonging now to my grandad, but the people who actually married were his grandparents in 1864. and its in better nic than my birth cert! i have also been given an old address book of my great grandmother, she kept recipies, birthdays addresses and christmas card lists in it. it was so wonderful. irony i felt was my hand writing and hers are so similar. truely fab corrina |
