Hi Janice, I think this site is great. The people you get to know and who are so helpful. I have just deleted a child and put it elswhere. Go into My Family Tree, into Mothers details, click on child, then click on delete, it asks if you are sure, then click YES. You can then add it where it should be. Ann

Jan, the advantage of being a member, is that you are able to upload your tree, and find relations all over the world! Just last week, I found out (via this website) that I have relations in Australia. This, to me, was very exciting since my relations up till then had never left Yorkshire.

Thanks for your info vikki, I have Family Tree Maker, I think I will stick to that in future as I don't see any advantage in genes reunited membership :-( Regards, Jan

Thanks Tracy and Jeanette for your speedy replies, but I think I will give up when membership expires.

hi janice Afraid thats right - you have to start at the bottom deleting as you work your way up! Painful task but the only way as previously said. I use PAF 5 to store my info offline. Its on another thread or you can go to http://www.familysearch.org/eng/paf/ Then, you can export your gedcom file to it and edit it there aswell. I was advised to have more than one source for storing my family tree as it was considered safer. Vikki xx

You have to delete all the descendants before you can delete a person. Then you have to delete the person, and re-enter them with the right person. It's much easier to use a program for creating family trees. On there, you can link and unlink to your hearts content, and don't have to delete anyone unless they need it.

I have entered one child under the incorrect mother (found later who his real mother was) How do I move him or delete him? I read instructions re: your names , selecting name then deleting but it won't let me, as I have entered children for him too. Its like a jigsaw puzzle as they are now all inter-connected. Instructions also tell me to look on the 'removing a relation page' for further instructions - but I can't find how to get to that!!!!! I find the system very unforgiving once the tree is set up. How much to do I have to delete just to move ONE name to a different parent ? I give up !!!!
