Aye now be kind on Pratts i was one now a Benson my two brothers have changed their srnames to Ralston mums maiden name as they have sons and thourght they may have gotton skitted at school. My Grandad Wally Pratt yes yes another awful name he knew it too god bless him and was outraged at my brothers for doing this and myself included after doing the family history for the Pratts back to 1760 and thinking my brothers are going to lose the name our family have had for centuries just like that. I have one male cousin with the name who has a son as he wasnt married to the girl and they have split up after a few years of being together i dont know if this boys surname is Pratt i hope it is and that my cousin has more children to carry on the name. Colette xx sorry its not about Fannys good job or i will be blushing |

Fanny can be a name in its own right, but it is traditionally short for Frances. Maybe Francesca? I also think that one of Jane Austen's minor characters, whose name is Anne, is called Fanny by her sister. nell |

Not sure, but was in hysterics at my history group last week. Somebody was telling us about what they had been successful with and one of the names was Fanny Hankie, we were rolling up. Another one was Iva Pratt. You couldn't make it up could you. |

If it is a Welsh name it can be the shortened form of Myfanwy. Pam |
