Hi I may of mentioned this before but it is really doing my head in, so would apprecitae some confidence boosters please. My ggg grandfather William Coombs was born to George and Sarah Coombs in Sep 1828, amking him 12 in 1841 census. Now, William's older brother Matthew Coombs 2 weddings had a Sarah Bradford as a witness, the first with a James Bradford (brother, new hubby or dad), and she was the informant of Matthew's 1st wife's death and also was the informant of one of Matthew's 1st sons deaths. From her address on death certs I have traced her on 1841 census living with a son William aged 12, who would be the same age as William Coombs, but he was put down as Bradford. Is she my Sarah? Could Bradford be her maiden name? She died just before 1851 census, so I cant get her birthplace. Surely you wouldnt have a friend who had the same forename as your mum, right age to be your mum, witness your 2 weddings, register 2 of your nearest and dearest deaths and have a son with matching details to your brother, or could you?? I think you've ask this before. I would say that it's the right person. The 1841 isn't the most accurate census so even though his surname was Coombs because he's living with a Bradford, they put him down as Bradford? Or maybe he considered himself a Bradford rather than an Coombs.... is this making sense?

I have William on 1851 census living on his own as William Coombs in Westminster, and I have his brother Matthew Coombs on 1841 and 1851 censuses. Matthew's 1st wedding was in 1835. Sarah died on 16/s/1851 in Marylebone Workhouse. She was admitted there in Dec 1848 because of illness. It is just that I have been trying to find George and Sarah for over a year and I probably have Sarah, I just dont want to be knocked back as I am excited that she could be my Sarah. Thanks for your help anyway Chloe. I actually have the 1841 complete London census. Ben

I was saying that I think you're right. What have I done to offend you, Benjamin?

Hi Joy Our ancestors like to be in disguise when you need them most lol It could be that she never actually wed George Coombs, I'm not sure, but cannot find their marrige on IGI, Pallots or in London churches that havent been transcribed onto IGI. Ben

It's ok Ben. I was posting about my own ancestor, not yours. I actually said that in my main post 'my gg grandmother'. Maybe next time you could wait to see what someone posts before jumping down their throat. All the best. Chloe
