Hi Bob, I use Generations v6 at the moment. I wanted to upgrade to a newer version that catered for the UK rather than America, but didn't want to change the format i use now, as i find it one of the easiest to use, of the many i've tried!! Generations was made by a company called Sierra. I found out that they recently sold Generations to the Heritage company. The newest version of Generations is called 'Heritage Family Tree' rather than the old 'Generations Family Tree' and it's compatible with XP too. I intend to buy it from Amazon (about £40 new or £30 used for the Deluxe 2005 edition) just as soon as my Hubby lets me!! Best wishes, Pippa |

Bob, There have been articles about this in March and April,May/June Family Tree Magazine. I have just been browsing articles but you really need to read them to be of any help to you. Can you find these mags in a library somewhere? I have 'Generations Grande Suite 8 UK version', but still with my old '98 windows, so I am happy with what I have. I nearly bought TMG (The Master Genalogist) and I think they are suggesting that either the update of TMG or the Roots Magic seems to be a replacement for the Generations. TMG has had a major version upgrade from 5.15 to version 6. Don't know if this helps. Janet |

Don't know what Gen 8 is exactly but if you go to www.familysearch.org you can down load PAF5 for free and if it's not what u want u've not lost anything, that's what I use as well as family tree 4. AL |

My current operating system (windows xp home) does not support fully my genealogy recording programme (Gen 8). Can anybody recommend software which is similar or as versatile as this. Thanks Bob |
