I have just noticed on 1901 census for one of my families an entry in the deaf/dumb/blind/lunatic section it says what looks like Fitsporn Birth. I wonder if anyone knows what this means? Carole xx |

checked 11 search engines and nothing came up. I wonder if it should be firstborn Ann Glos |

If they had called that column 'Disability' then, as we would do today , there would not be that problem. However they didn't It is only that we have learned so much more about disability that we are now more comfortable with it. Do not assume that your rellie was other than ''sane'- she prob went on to have a family of her own, and was simply a sufferer of Epilepsy |

Dea, how awful, I will try to find out what happened to her. How anyone can call it the Good Old Days beats me. Thank goodness we are more understanding now. C xx |
