Tracy That would have been so useful to me. My great grandfather married a widow FIELD, her father's name BUTLER. I spent ages looking for a BUTLER/FIELD marriage but it turned out that she, BUTLER first married HUMPHREY then as HUMPREY married FIELD. She outlived my great grandfather too. I wonder what she did to all of them? |

On some of mine, they have their married name. Plus the birth certs from the second marriage may have both names. Regards, Alan. |

Mine have stated their maiden name followed by formerly blah blah for their 1st married name. BUT that doesn't mean to say they all did that - some may have lied for whatever reason. Debby |

When a female remarried in the mid 1800's what surname would she use - revert to maiden name or use her previous married name? Pauline |
