Hi, I did an address search on the 1881 census and there was a James Quin at number 9 Mill Row. Could he have been a relative? Heather

i have john on 1891 census and he was living with his wife and kiddies as well as brother edward (1880) and jane (1878) There seems to b a big age difference between jon and edward and jane i have found the green family living in 12 mill row on 1881 and jane and edward r there as well if they changed there names how i would b able to prove it this family seems to b a huge mystery lol

I'd guess that this is a transcription error, the names Quinn and Green are about the same length. Is it possible to see the original image on Ancestry? Heather

You should always take ages on the census with a pinch of salt. Many people just didn't know their ages and birthdays weren't celebrated in the same way as today, so ages weren't so important. I am sure the Green family on the 1881 census is really your Quinn family. Perhaps the enumerator just couldn't read whatever the family member had written. (the census page on Ancestry definitely says Green, but these images are what the enumerator filled in after collecting written or verbal information from the householders). I have saved the images for John and his family for the 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 census, if you send me your email address and tell me which of these you'd like. Kath. x
