finding your link on someone elses tree

I have just given permission for someone to view my family tree, but having they're difficulty locating the common ancestor. (One of my husbands ancestors). I was told myself, how to do this a while back but cannot remember. Would some kind person please remind me. Many thanks, Joan

If you click on 'view relations' instead of 'view tree', you should be able to flick through till you find who you're looking for. Then, if you click 'view tree' you should be able to see their family.

Thanks, i will pass on the info, see if it helps him out as he's new to all this. Don't think he knows wht he's letting himself in for! I have permission to view other peoples trees that are not directly related to this branch, will he be able to see these as well, does anyone know? many thanks Joan

Hi, He'll be able to see your whole tree. I don't let people see mine (it's only small on here, anyway). I send the data from Family tree maker and just send the families in which they have an interest. Gwynne

Thanks for that, will bear it in mind and may remove permission but offer to send in the family tree maker format instead if i can learn how to do it!! Will he need a progremme to open the FTM 2005 file Joan
