Cemetary plot numbers?

Does anyone know how I would go about finding out a plot number for a rellie who died in the 1950's (1952 I think)? I know roughly which part of the church grounds he is buried in but there is no marker. Can it be done online or would I need to go to a specific office etc.....

If it's in a churchyard, you would probably have to go to the relevant county record office. If it is in a large cemetery which has an office (most do), then a phone call to them with the name and approx. date of death should be all you need to get the plot number. My local cemetery have basic maps of the cemetery which they can mark the position of the grave for you. Kath. x

If in a churchyard, then you could write to the vicar because the church should have a plan. Joy

hiya vicki, ring the local council they have copies/plans of who is buried in which plot, it may cost you a couple of quid but i'm sure they'd be happy to help, failing that goto the archives office and lookup there it will give you plot number, and even sometimes how much the plot actually cost!! hope this helps Julie
