I applied on line for a marriage cert giving all the info i had from 1837. It was my Dads first marriage. and i gave his two middle names , not thinking that on the info i had From 1837 only had one middle name. So today i received an E mail stating that the because the Grooms middle name(s) was not a match they were not sending me the Cert. My question is could my Dad had only given one middle name? And also Would the Email let me know that the Grooms fathers name was also wrong if that was the case. Im quite sure i had the right one. What do you think and what should i do? Shaz

E-mail back and ask them to check father's name. Its possible your father didn't give all his names. Depending on how popular his names were, this could be his cert, or another man with some of his names. To see how popular its likely to be, put the first names as a combination into Freebmd's search box and search all records. nell

It has been my experience when ordering certificates to provide the information exactly as it appears on the registration indexes even if the names are spelled wrong. If you can, reply to the email you received from 1837 and ask to make an amended request. Rose

Hi Rose i could kick my self for not being more carefully, thats the last time i order a certificate at night when i am Tired. I Think if it is the correct one it was more likly to be that my Dad only gave one of his middle names. Have sent a Email back and hope i dont have to wait to long to find out one way or another. Shaz
