> born according to 1861/71/81/91/01 census in C1854-1855 Keep in mind that registration of births WAS NOT MANDATORY in England at that time, so there may be no civil registration to find. > so I cannot see why these two would of been registered > without them or not at all If we were all able to read the minds of our dead ancestors, genealogy would be oh so simple! In reality there can be a whole host of reasons why a particular birth wasn't registered while others in the family were. Trying to second-guess the specific situation from a position of a century and a half later, is a futile excercise at the best of times IMO. Cheers, Bill Sydney, Australia |

Can anyone help me before I go mad. I am looking for the births of Charles Frederick Williams born according to 1861/71/81/91/01 census in C1854-1855 in Bethnal Green, London, Middlesex. Also his brother William Joseph Williams again according to census born C1850 in St Mary Le Strand, London, Middlesex. Their parents were Martha Williams nee Spendelow and William James Williams. On Charles' marriage certificate and on one of his children's birth's he is only listed as Charles no Frederick. I now have three wrong certificates for Charles or Charles Frederick all born Bethnal Green in the time span and cannot find a record of William Joseph although he is on his son's birth certificate as William Joseph. Their are three older children in this family and I have certificates for two of them giving their names including middle names, so I cannot see why these two would of been registered without them or not at all. Any ideas or help greatly appreciated I really dont want to have to order every Charles or William Williams to find them!!!!! Kim |
