Thanks for your help and advice will try those sites that you mentioned. Block and Spar Maker was something to do with ships, that explains why my ancester came from Whitby in Yorkshire to Liverpool, because of the Docks. Many thanks to you all, Wonderful. Best wishes Yvonne x

Blocks and spars were wooden components used in the rigging of sailing ships.

Does anyone know of site where you can find out what your ancesters occupations meant, 1 ancester was a Breeze Block (iron) and another was a Block and Spar maker, but would like to find out this type of job was. Always grateful for you help and advice. Regards Yvonne
