Check out www(.)dorset-opc(.)com Have found this site really useful - it's split up into Dorset parishes and a lot of them have transcriptions of the parish records and censuses, amongst other things like muster rolls/hearth taxes. Each page has photos of the parish churches too. One of the parishes has my family name going all the way back to 1650. Although I haven't managed to get that far yet! The site co-ordinator and all the online parish clerks I've contacted have been incredidbly helpful, especially as they all do it for free in their own time. Let's hope they don't hate me for giving them more look ups to do throught this site!

Have found this useful too! Also worth checking out www(.)familyhistoryonline(.)net some useful stuff on Dorset, including 1851 census, but you do have to pay and it can be pricey if you don't have precise details.

A great site, did you also know that they have started one for Wiltshire. A person(s) adopts a parish This may not be easy for the person transcribing so our many many thanks to them. I think I may just start helping Irene
