We always stood, head bowed, made the Sign of the Cross and said Rest in Peace....I had quite forgotten about that. BC XX

I have never heard that one before!

I wish I had paid more attention to my grandad when he was chatting. There is a memory that is driving me mad. He used to sing a song - Daisy Daisy, but with "alternative" words.

Now I can't remember most of it but the last line was

"in the back of a black maria"

I know that means police van but I do wish I could remember it!

it went something like "Touch collar - never swaller - never get scarlet fever"

We always stood and bowed our heads until the hearse had passed........................nowadays traffic at roundabouts and junctions won't slow down, let alone give way to a hearse!

I am getting a right grumpy old woman I know, but where did respect go?

xx
