I have some of mum's recipes and I was looking at one today and the first ingredient was Trex - I am assuming it is/was some sort of marge/fat - can anyone confirm that for me please and tell me what the 2008 equivalent is?! |

... and it makes the most beautiful pastry. Haven't bought it for a while, but the last time I bought it, it was in Waitrose. |

Bought some on Friday last at Morrison's Maz - it's a combination I think of lard and marg. and does make the most wonderful shortcrust pastry!! |

If I remember rightly it was a white fat. |

I still use Trex. It is a white vegetable fat and it creams fairly easily. It makes pastry and you can fry in it.Good stuff. |

Maz, after hallowe'en, you could use the pumpkin and Trex to make pumpkin pie. |

Actually, I haven't made pastry for quite a long time, but I think the last time I used half Trex and half something else, can't remember what though. Sometimes I've used Cookeen, too; oh, and Echo. |
