Have been looking for my birth cert at home. Can not find it anywhere. Can some one tell me where I've put it ? I normally keep it with all the other birth certs I have - its not there, and have turfed out all files/folders etc.
Where have I put it?? HELP

Have you filed it with your family history papers? I keep all my certs in a messy heap in a folder. I expect my birth cert is in there too!!

Failing that, check the fridge - always a good place to look in our house.

Or is it with your medical card or passport?

Hi Jill

Gone thru family historuy papers, inc files where i keep all certs ~(normally -lol) Have 3 files - one each for bmd certs, got my marriage cert,.
Got passport and med cert - its not with them.
Took your advice checked the fridge and while in kitchen - checked freezer too and the wash machine and oven.

Need to send some docs on monday, to renew a licence for work, and it has to include either a passport or birth cert, and am loathe to send passport.
Am noirmally so careful

Try looking under the bed Liz, that's a favourite hiding place in our house. Another thought is, pull your bottom drawer out, make sure it hasn't fallen through there. Have found quite a few lost things there too.

I'd try the fridge, we find lots of weird stuff in there. (Who puts it in? No-one admits it!)

Helen - we must be related!

The only reason I can't put the coffee pot in the fridge is that it doesn't fit!!

(My son calls me doughnut brain by the way!)

Liz.........you have my sympathy.A few weeks ago my son needed his birth cert as he was starting work. He has two ( full and short ) , I couldn't find either of them.Turned the house up side down several times looking for them !!
In the end I had to get a new one from the registry office.

The missing "short" one turned up two weeks later ( in his bedroom ) and I found the old full one last week ( tucked in the back of the gun cabinet in our room ).....the one place I hadn't looked .

Try to think " when did you last see it ? ".............I wish you luck in finding it.

Afraid to say the cert is still elusive.
Thank you all for your useful (!?) cthoughts of hiding places itmight have taken residence.

All files, desk, draws, scanner, fridge, freezer, , microwave, under bed,

I did have to send it of for the same purpose before 3 years ago, and know it came back.
I have seen it - but cant remember where. I'm sure it was with the other birth certs I have.

AM loathe to send passport, but will have to this time, as items need to be at work by wed.
Only got the letter yesterday to request the things.
I have to send either birth cert - full or passport or driving licence - dont drive so aint got

Amanda - whats the betting it turns up as soon as i've posted the thngs off?

It was found in a box file of paperwork, odds and ends.

Nowhere near where i keep certs
Certainly do not know why it was there.

Mad moment i think

Hi Liz,

I am glad your birth certificate has been found, I haven't a clue where mine is at the mo, buried in a mountain of papers somewhere in my own house I expect. I do have a metal filing cabinet but that became buried too and it will take ages to get through to that when I do get round to clearing everything.

I am an Elizabeth A too, mine stands for Ann

We needed a short middle name after such a long Christian name, Liz, I have an eight letter surname too
I thought I would save my son so much writing and gave him the short three letter Christian name with a six letter middle name and the long surname lol

I used to hate having to write all my name out at school, hence using Liz when I started work.

can I ask

I got my children the long certificates about two years ago as they were needed to get get new passports ..........they only had the small square ones before that

Yesterday we went to sign my son on at the college and was told its not the original!!!??? the small one is !!!!

No problem we had both

BUT if its no good at the college WHY will the passport office only take the long one as proof of who they are ???

coz that isnt THE original document the passport office want !!!
