~~~~~yoohoo to all from a dark New Zealand. It is just after 7 am and I am taking hubby up to west Auckland so he can go for a tramp (hike to you) with his 2 'girlfriends'. Unfortunately it will be just a short one in the morning so I wont get much time to window shop and have a catch-up sleep. But at least it will be a break for both of us. I sometimes feel as if we are joined at the hip.
Better go and sort out what he is going to wear. He is hopeless at getting dressed now - good clothes for messing around at home and working clothes when we go out.
Hi Everyone,
How are all you ladies keeping? I hope you are all well.
Mo, yes Jennie's medication is really expensive. One of the nurses, always ring her early in the morning of her appointment, to make sure that she is goimg to turn up, once they mix the medication, it has to be used, within so many hours. Apparently, in the past, some patients haven't turned up, and didn't even have the courtesy to let the hospital know. Such a waste of money! My friend has come home today, We picked her up about 12 0'clock.
I hope Jean and J will have a lovely time at the party tonight.
It will be nice when all our friends are back, it's very quiet on here without them.
It's been a nice day here, managed to get the washing dried.
I am now going to do a page of the scrapbook I am doing for a relative's 80th birthday.
Mo, hope all is well with both you and Roly. Enjoy your meal out with the family tomorrow. Take care!
Love,
Sallie.xx
Hello All,
Mo, it's been raining off and on all day here, and quite heavy at times. I hope you all enjoy your meal on Sunday. I'm the same as you, I love it when we all get together.
My friend is doing really well, she hopes to be home sometime over the weekend. I've been to visit her over the last two days, so didn't go today.
Jennie had a colonoscopy today, the medication is working, thank goodness. So lets hope that it will continue to do so! The Consultant was telling Jennie as she was having the colonoscopy, that the eight week dose of medication that she has, costs £1,500, we knew it was expensive, but not that expensive.
Jean, hope J got on alright at the clinic today. Hope the weather was better for you, than it was for us.
Hope everyone else is alright.
Have a nice weekend.
Best wishes,
Sallie.
Oh Jean you are a one. Join the club. Poor J. I bet he doesn't know if he is coming or going. Your original clinic is the one to believe,as they have been following J from the beginning,and have seen J at his worst,and seen how well he has progressed. Give him a hug from me,and tell him to keep his chin up. Enjoy your Golden Wedding celebrations. Just make sure you don't disappear up your own BTM,rushing around like that. Love to you both. Mo xxx
Hi to you all. Sallie I am so glad your friends op went well,now lets pray she continues to progress. I hope that Jennies colonoscopy,goes well,and that her medication has helped. Does she feel better for being on it. Huia,if you are doing calenders,let us know on here, I would like to buy one from you,especially if it is about your surrounding area. It sounds a wonderful way to make money for a worthwhile cause,i.e the voluntary Fire Brigade,they do such a brilliant job. Sallie,did Debbie say she was having a holiday this week. I know Sue is away,as well as Marilyn. I don't know all these holiday makers. Even our Jean will be booking a break away soon. I don't suppose we will get away much before October. We normally go to Blackpool for my birthday. Mind you,that all depends on how Roly gets on with the gastro enterologist in August. Well girls I will love you and leave you. Take care. Love to you all. Mo xxx
Hello Everyone,
Hope all's well with you all today!
Huia, the in the ear hearing aid that I have, was quite a lot of money. I thought that one of the more expensive hearing aids ,would be a lot better than a cheaper one, but it looks as though I have been proved wrong. Mind you, it might be that I have an odd shaped ear. The family keep telling me that I should go back and tell them what's happening - I've already been back a few times and it's still no better - so whats the point of going again. It sounds like a good idea using the photos to make calendars. I'm sure you family and friends will be thrilled with them. Hope hubby is alright.
Jean, how are you and J today? Hope you are getting use to your hearing aids!
Mo, hope both you and Roly are both alright. Pleased to hear that your grandson is better. It's very quiet on here, we usually hear from Debbie, I hope all is well with her and her family.
I'm off to visit my friend in hospital this evening, she had her operation yesterday, the sister told her husband when he phoned yesterday, that as far as they can tell, everything looks alright.
Jennie had her medication yesterday, she's fine ( touch wood ) , so lets hope it continues. Friday, she has another colonoscopy, fingers crossed that the medication is doing it's job.
Speak to everyone soon.
Best wishes,
Sallie.xx
Good morning (from me) all.
MO, I didnt do the laser copying, I got it done in town. 4 on an A4 page, I then cut them out and put them onto coloured A4 cards which I had cut in half and then folded to make them a suitable size for posting. I had matching coloured paper from which I made envelopes. They worked out cheaper than buying Christmas cards although they took a bit of time to make but oh so satisfying. I have now learnt how to use my scanner/printer so perhaps I will branch out when I have finished using granddads paintings.
I too have hearing aids. I was asked if I wanted the over-the-ears or in-the-ears type. I was doubtful about o-t-e because I wear glasses but I was assured the glasses would slip in beside them. I had heard the other sort were more susceptible to dampness. I chose o-t-e but I find they dont always stay in place because my ears are very flat to my head. As a result I rarely wear them, or only wear them in the house (usually just to watch TV) with the part holding the works sticking out sideways! As a result I have not really got used to them. 'When I win lotto' (yeah, right, oinkoinkflapflap) I will buy some top quality in-the-ear ones.
I have to make a final decision on the photos I want to use in a calendar I am having printed of my local photos, and then get them onto a CD or memory stick for the printer. I am not yet game to try to print it myself, not sure where I would get the right sort of paper. I was going to get 500 done to raise funds for our local volunteer fire brigade but several people doubt if I could sell that many so will start with 100 and if they sell well I could probably get another 100 done. I might look into different paper types for future use if I decide to do calendars in future, even if they are only for my own friends and relatives.
Better get on with it now.
Huia.
Mo here,speaking nice and silently,so that it does not set our Jeans hearing aids into overdrive. lol I am sure you will soon get used to them Jean,I should imagine that it takes a lot of people,quite a time to get used to them,tooing and froing to get the volume adjusted. Oh Huia,there was me thinking we might know a millionairess. Never mind,a few dollars is better than none. A 91% pass was very good,you clever thing you. I do envy you being able to do the laser copying. I only have my laptop,and sometimes I get confused with this,so I could not cope with anything more. What the hecks wrong with your local clinic Jean,did they actually send J an appointment,or was it done by the visiting nurse. It's a good job J can drive,or you could have been in a right pickle. I am so glad J's wound has healed at last. How are your legs now by the way? Hello Sallie my lovely,hows you tonight. My grandaughter seems to be o.k. She still has to wait to hear about the biopsy though. My grandson is feeling a lot better as well,thank the lord. I feel so sad,I am watching the bodies of the eight soldiers,killed in Afghanistan,arriving back in this country. What a waste of such young lives. I am sorry girls,but how many more must we lose,before we withdraw from that country. I must go now,sorry . Love to you all. Mo xxx
Hi Jean, it's so annoying when that happens. Still, J has got an appointment on Friday, although it's further for you to travel, it's only a few more days to wait. I hope it all goes well for him! Hope your earache has gone by now. Jean, don't you find that the adverts on the television are really loud, and the programmes are not loud enough. I'm sure they keep the volume down when it comes to all the programmes. I've had a small hearing aid for a couple of years, although I only use it now and again. It keeps moving and sometimes it falls out. They have altered it and put a non-slip coating on it, but it's not much better.
Mo, hope things are well with you and Roly today. Have you heard how your granddaughter is? It would be nice for you to know how she is. Hope your grandson is getting better, and that he will soon be back to his usual self.
Huia, it's a shame that the Annuals are not worth a bit more. There we were thinking, that you could have made a nice bit of money. As you said, with thirty of them you would get a nice little sum, even though you will have to share it with your sister.
Speak to you all soon.
Best wishes ,
Sallie, when J got to the clinic they had no knowledge of his appointment, so he has to go to another clinic further away on friday, but the wound is almost closed so hopefully it will be over soon...
Woke up with earache, never get that... but have to admit when I put them in this morning, it did seem a little easier although still quite noisy so I will wait until the weekend before I ring the clinic......just got to get a happy level when watching t.v. to suit everyone.
Mo, you are not on your own, we're in the same club - Scatter Brains Anonymous!
Speak to you all tomorrow.
MOkent, I took one of the G.O.A.s to an antiques roadshow last year. The expert said there were a lot of them around and they probably would be worth only $10 each. Still, 30 of them would be a nice little bit even though I would have to share it with my sister since they arent really mine. They just finished up here when mum went into a resthome.
I also have a lot of my grandfathers amateur painting which finished up here (2 are definitely mine). They are not framed. I discovered a couple of years ago that somebody had bought the 'twin' of one of mine in an auction. He was thrilled with it. I dont know how much he paid. An art gallery owner thought they wouldnt be worth much individually but should be kept together as a collection, as a 'social (now what did he say) thingy. I have made laser copies of them all, my original idea being to have a catalogue of his works. I have used the laser copies to make smaller copies which I can use on cards for family members at Christmas so they can all see them. One cousin who had spent some holidays as a child with our grandparents asked if she could have a couple of them enlarged to A4, which I happily supplied. She had them framed for her bedroom wall. Unfortunately she died of cancer about a year later.
Among the stuff I found I had were my science notes from High School, over 50 yrs ago. I ditched them. Then in the 70s I did a correspondence course in maths since I hadnt done that at HS and when my work was marked it was returned to me and I kept it! I have now ditched it. (BTW after 3 yrs of the course I sat the School Cert exam in maths, scored 91%!)
I used to keep a lot of boxes of stuff up in the attic but my OH decided it should come down when gales were predicted one year as he didnt want all my stuff blowing all over the neighbours places when our roof came off! There was no fear of the ceiling collapsing as, when we built the house (did all the work ourselves) the surplus flooring was put upstairs, a strip about 3 or 4 ft wide under the highest part of the roof for the full length of the house.
Better get on with more sorting.
Huia.
Hi Everyone,
Huia, I was thinking the same as Mo, about the Girls Own Annuals, they could be worth a bit. Make sure how much they are worth, before you get rid of them. Nice to hear from you, hope your hubby is alright. You've got a busy time ahead of you, with all the jobs you have to do.
Our daughter and son-in-law, cleared our loft out last year. The things that we had kept was ridiculous. We had even kept daughter and son's lunch boxes, from when they were in the junior school. It had to be done, Alun was worried that the bedroom ceilings would fall in underneath all the wieght.
Mo, our garage ( utility room ) has got a lot of things in it that need to be thrown out. The trouble is, Alun is a member of a model railway club. We had the garage converted into a utility room about six years ago, it is quite a good size, but over half of it has Alun's model railway layout in it. Deep down, I think that he would really like all the utility room for his hobby.
Been to see my friend today, to wish her all the best, before she goes into hospital tomorrow for her operation. Jennie, goes to the hospital tomorrow, for her eight week lot of medication. Then she goes back on Friday for a colonoscopy. As I said before, it's going to be a lovely week. Alun is at the doctors on Thursday, and I'm there on Friday.
Hello to, Jean, Marie, Debbie, Sue and Marilyn. Hope Marilyn and Sue are enjoying their holidays.
Best wishes to you all.
Huia,the girls own album's,could be worth quite a bit of money now. I would check them out before you get rid of them. After all, it would help financially. I understand what you are saying about hoarding things. We are the same,or should I say Roly is. We have so much junk in the attic,that he thinks may come in handy one day. I am afraid the ceilings are going to fall in on us one of these days. He has two sheds,that he has been saying he will clear out for about two years now. He did clear them a bit,about august last year,but then got made redundant last December,so all his junk from his van got put in the sheds,and thats where it has stayed. It must be lovely having the photo's of your ancestors. My family were not ones for having photo's done. But my cousin in OZ,did send me some pics of my fathers side of the family. I was so happy to receive one of my grandmother,who died when my dad was very young,it made me cry when I saw it,she was so beautiful. Oh Sallie,I do hope eveything goes well for you at the doctors and hospital. I hope it's nothing to serious. ~~~~~~to Jean,Marie,Debbie,Sue and our holiday girl Marilyn. Love Mo xxx
