Mo in Kent Report 12 Jun 2009 15:36

Well hello girls, this thread appears to be like buses, more than one turns up at the same time, and yet when you wait for one,it takes ages to arrive.
It's great to hear from you all again.
Oh Huia, you are a girl, slipping and sliding like that. How is your OH,now?
Is he still attending the day centre?, as I read on the carers thread that your
OH went walk about. It must be such a worry for you, especially when you
entrust him into their care, and they are not giving him the attention he so
deserves. I know he likes walking, but surely they must have known that.
I am sorry to hear about Matthews accident, Debbie. Lots of love and attention,is what is called for now.
I hope the birthday boy, enjoys his fishing trip. The weather is supposed to
be good again. So it looks like you wont be bowling after all.
It should be nice for your BBQ Sue. So lttle one enjoyed the zoo then.
Children make me smile,it's amazing how a plaster,or a bit of cream is a
miracle worker. They firmly believe it heals them, don't they.
Sallie, how wonderful for your husband to be meeting, long lost family.
Enjoy your day at Hereford,it sounds like you are going to have a lovely weekend.
It's funny you saying about Matthew Debbie. My grandson, broke his wrist at football,a few weeks ago. Well,he has his exams this week as well.
So my daughter, concerned as its the wrist he writes with, made enquiries
as to wether he would be entitled to more time,to do the papers. And yes,
he is allowed another seven and a half minutes, but he has to have a letter from the doctor, stating he has broken the wrist, even though it is in plaster.
It cost my daughter eleven pounds for the letter. So I told her to get photo
copies done,in case he needs another letter for his other exams.
It's ludricous isn't it. The poor lad has been in plaster for at least three weeks now.

Love to all. Mo xxx

Hi All,

Debbie, sorry to hear about Matthew's foot, hope it will soon get better.
Jennie did something to her foot when she was twelve, she was on crutches for two weeks, her dad took her to school on his way to work, and picked her up on his way home.

Sue, nice to hear that you had a good day at the zoo. Hope your son does well in his GCSE's - please wish him Good Luck for me. Enjoy yourself at the BBQ tomorrow, the weather is supposed to be good, so lets hope they are right.

Huia, nice to hear from you and hope all is well with you and your family.
I'm afraid, that I also had to laugh when I read about you slipping on the grass. I think it's our pride that gets hurt more than we do!

Mo, Jean and Marilyn, I hope you and your families are all well. It's nice to have some good weather, for a change.

Tomorrow, hubby and I are going to Hereford to do some research on his side of the family. We are also meeting for the first time, two of hubby's third cousins, so we are looking forward to that. I found them both on GR,
although I'd been searching for years for someone on that side of the family, it wasn't until four months ago that I found them. It just shows that you have to keep on searching.

Well ladies, I hope you all have a lovely weekend. Speak to you all soon.
Take care of yourselves.

Debbie, please wish your son Habby Birthday for tomorrow, from me.
Sallie.

HI
Hope your Sons foot gets better soon Debbie, hope he dosent have to miss out on anything important.

Had to laugh at your thread Huia it is me that thing seems to happen to.

Well we got to the Zoo yesterday and we managed to miss most of the showers. Mind you little one moan a lot he dosent like to walk far.
Had to look for the first aid to get a plaster after he cut his hand, it was only a small cut but wouldnt stop bleeding.
After we sorted his hand out he enjoyed seeing all the animals.

Today my eldest is taking some more of his G C S E exams so I am keeping my fingures crossed he get on alright. He has work hard so I hope this will pay off.The school is taking some exams a year early.

Well the Sun is out and me and OH are still off work so at least we can get out in the garden. Going to a friend BBQ tomorrow so lets hope it stays warm.
Hope you are well Mo and I will speak to you all soon.

Hi All, oh Huia, I apologise, but I did have a little snigger to myself at your expense. At least you managed to go into the museum before your tumble. You may not have felt quite as enthusiasitc about it if things had been the other way round.

My friends trousers came out clean and she is fine. It's all just a bit awkward when something like that happens.

I'm just home from having spent 2 hours in Hospital. Poor Matthew did something to his foot yesterday on the way back from school. He has sprained the ligaments, so it is now heavily strapped and he has to keep it raised as much as he can, though is able to walk on it, even though it gives him pain. The leaflet the hospital gave us said that it can be 2-3 weeks before the pain subsides completely. He wants to get back to sports as quickly as possible, so they will just keep an eye on him at school and he will take it easy next week.

Oh well, at least it isn't a break. Not sure how we would have coped if he needed it plastered and he would have been out of action for a few weeks.

The rest of us are all ok, and I hope that you all are too. If I don't get back to here, I wish you all a lovely weekend. My 3rd son is 8 tomorrow and wants to go fishing for the day. The forecast isn't great so we may go to the bowling alley instead if it rains. Anything is a special treat.

Debbie, I once went to Auckland on the bus while my vehicle was being serviced. I walked to the museum and had a bit of a look then I came out and decided to take a short cut down a grassy bank. BIG mistake. It was wet and slippery. I sat down, got mud on my trousers and cuffs and handbag. I walked across the soggy cricket ground to some loos to try to clean up. Even my underpants were wet. I tied my sweat shirt round my waist to try to hide the dirty wet seat of my pants. Luckily there was a shop on my way back to the busstop where I was able to buy underpants and trousers not too expensively for my journey back to Papakura in the bus. I didnt fancy sitting (or more likely standing) in my wet clothes.

Hi All, just thought I'd pop in to let you know we are all still alive and kicking over here. Jean, I'm so pleased that things are looking up a bit in your household. Take things slowly but surely and all will right itself in the end. I do hope you legs are a bit easier. I agree that perhaps you should keep the stockings off at night, but could you put a pillow at your feet end in bed just to raise your legs slightly? There again, if you sleep anything like I do, you move around so much in bed they are more of a hindrance than a help.

Lovely day here today, just got back from a long walk. My friend had some new white trousers on so it was just her bad luck to slip on some leaves and end up black and muddy. Poor thing. Thankfully I had a plastic bag for her to sit on in the car :-)) She was ok, just her pride that hurt. I hope she can get all the mud out.

The eldest 2 boys had a schools' athletics competition yesterday. The weather was atrocious and I think, if I haven't got Trench Foot, then Gout may set in. I was stood in puddles for 2½ hours in pouring rain and high winds. Some of the events were cancelled for safety reasons, but no such luck with the running on an all weather track. No records broken and nobody really enjoyed themselves, but it was an event that had to be run. Never mind.

Off to sort out the weeds in the garden now. They love the wet weather don't they? The bindweed is trailing beautifully around everything, so my mission for the morning is to get rid of it all.

Have a nice Day.

Nosy Mare,Jean what are you saying,me nosy never.
I am pleased for you both,it's so good to hear J had his appetite back.
Good grief J what are you trying to do,scare the life out of us or what,NO
CLEANING CARS, or even breathing on one, until the doctor gives you the o.k.
I don't think you are supposed to wear the stockings at night Jean, they are to give you support during the day. At least that was what we were told when I was a Pharmacy assistant, before I retired.
Dutch should really have seen a doctor over here,I do agree with you on that. Plus she has the language barrier to get over. She is in my thoughts
bless her.

Hi All,

Jean, just been reading you thread telling us that you are now back online.
It's really good that your daughter could sort out the problem! I wouldn't have a clue where to start. Thank goodness, hubby is a computer technician, at least there is someone in the house that know's what to do.
Jean, pleased to hear that J is feeling better, as you said, you can tell when they are better, as they don't moan so much.
I hope your legs have improved, and are not so painful.

Marie, nice to see you back. So pleased that you enjoyed your holiday with your relatives. It's always nice to spend some time with brothers and sisters. We find, that when we all get together, there's so much to talk about, and that the time goes by so quickly.

Sue, although we have lived in Derbyshire fo thirty years, we still love and miss Wales, but we don't miss the rain. I can remember one summer, when it rained continually for a whole month, can't remember the date now, but I know that we had only been married for a short time.

Debbie, glad you all had a good weekend, and that the weather didn't spoil the Fun Run. I know what you mean about " Dad Patrol ", my sister-in -law has to do the same when she needs to go somewhere where she can't take her hubby. They also have a friend that lives nearby - he sometimes stays the night, while my sister - in - law is away. It takes the pressure off her, during these times.

Mo, hope all is well with both you and R. I must say, your garden sounds really nice - don't know what oriental lillies look like, but you make them sound beautiful.
Mo, I think I need a switch on my brain so that I can switch off when I go to bed.

Well, I must stop going on and on, and go and make us a cup of tea!

Speak to you all soon.

Best wishes to everyone.

Sallie.

Hello everyone, nice to hear from you all.
Welcome back Marie, did you have a nice time? We missed all your news.
Hows the family bearing up,I hope they are well. As you have read on here,
we have had some trials and tribulations going on,health wise, but thank
god,we are coming out the other side. Still got lots of hospital appointments,to attend, but I will get Roly sorted out in the end.
So Sue we can blame you for all this rain can we. Next time you have a
holiday, can you warn us in advance,so that we can pop onto a plane and go and visit Marie.
Oh bless little Adam,I am glad he enjoyed his visit to the cinema. Next time take a seat belt,so as he doesn't fall of the seat.
I had to laugh at your " Dad Patrol" Debbie, but you are lucky that there are
a few of you to care for Dad.
When my Mum was alive, her care fell onto my shoulders. My brother was working, and had a young family to look after [ his second marriage ]
It was darned hard work at times, but she was my Mum,so like so many others, you do it automatically don't you. And love conquers all the problems that you encounter.
But it was so sad when dementia set in. On one occasion, when I visited her,she was convinced she had,had to drive a bus. She said to me,"I told
them that I am registered blind, but they still made me do it" bless her.
I will have to p.m Jean,as Taff put a post up yesterday saying that Jean had problems with her computer.
Hi Sallie if you are about, take care my lovely.
By for now girls. Love to you all. Mo xxx

Oh gosh, did I make it sound so awful yesterday? Actually, the charity Fun Run, was just that - FUN. It was the Run For Moore in memory of Bobby Moore the Footballer who died of Cancer. Over here it was run just before the Race for Life, so there were runs for both the males & females of society. All ages, shapes & sizes take part and everyone had a laugh, and at the end of the day it is the Cancer Charities who benefit so a good morning out, despite the rain.

Went for a long swim today, so feel quite awake. Then went to see my Dad. He is ok after his lunch yesterday. Mum is away at the moment in France with the Choir for various concerts, so myself, my 2 sisters and my brother have been on "Dad Patrol". Just keeping an eye on him and making sure he takes his tablets when he should. He has so many to take but uses one of these special holders split into days then times of the day, so as long as he doesn't forget to take them, he can't go too far wrong.

Mo & Sallie, I can't imagine not being able to sleep, it must be awful. Thankfully I sleep well and go to bed at a reasonable time, otherwise I would be too tired the next day. I hate feeling tired asit makes me grumpy and snappy (or is that just my age, I wonder?).

Jean, I hope that you and J are ok.

Thanks for the kind words, Marie, glad you had a good time away.

Bye for now, hope you are all well.

Sorry to hear you have had bad weather Debbie but we have had rain the last 3 days in the midlands plus more to come this week. Me and hubby are both off work this week( hence the rain)

Didnt go to the zoo but took the kids bowling , cinema and out for sunday dinner saved me cooking. Adams first time at the cinema he was good apart from sliping of the seat and hitting the man in front on his head.He was fine we did say sorry.

Like you Debbie just got the lunches ready for school, kids up and OH is still snoring in bed.Never stops for us ladies.

Sallie we went to wales last year for our holiday and your Husbands is right rained the whole week, but we went with friends and had a great time anyway.
Debbie glad you had a nice lunch with your dad and F I L like you say some times you just have to look at the funny side. My twin was disabled and some of the outings we had you could only but laugh. It is good not to let life get us down.

Well must go speak soon to you all. Sue

Hi All,

Debbie, you aren't the only ones with bad weather. It rained most of yesterday and all day today, here in Derbyshire. My hubby says it's like living back home in Wales. They get a lot more rain than we do, although we seem to be getting quite a bit lately. Hope you all enjoyed your lunch out - as you said Debbie, you have to look on the funny side of life, it makes it easier to get through each day.

Jean, hope you are having a lovely birthday, and that you are having some nice weather for it. Hope J is feeling better. Good wishes to the both of you!

Mo, yes I do tend to be a bit of a night owl! If I go to bed to soon, I just can't seem to get to sleep - my mind starts working overtime. I don't want to start taking sleeping tablets if I can help it, so I'll keep struggling on for the time being. It's only since I've got older, that I've had this problem.
My mother was the same, until she started taking sleeping tablets.

Speak to you all soon. Take care of yourselves.

Hi All. Well, you lot had the last laugh today didn't you? I had been telling you about our gorgeous weather all week when you were all suffering, so you decided to send me some of your storms today, just as I was watching the children do a Charity Fun Run. Not very charitable. It was freezing with driving rain and gale force winds. Not so great when you are watching along the sea front.

Anyway, we made the most of it and the children enjoyed themselves. I think once you get to a certain point of wetness, it doesn't matter how much more is thrown at you.

We took my Dad and F.I.L. out for lunch which was nice. My dad had a stroke earlier this year and F.I.L.'s alzheimers is getting worse, so we were quite an entertaining bunch - one that couldn't walk very far but had all his marbles and the other who is as strong as an ox, but is deaf and can't remember half way through a sentence what he was talking about. So, between us, we managed. You've got to take these things with a sense of humour otherwise we would all get so down about them wouldn't we?

Anyway. Home now, just sorting out uniforms & lunch boxes for tomorrow, then back to the grindstone.

Jean, I hope you had a lovely day yesterday and that you and J are both on the mend.

Speak to you all next week. Take care.
