Mo in Kent Report 7 Jun 2009 14:50

Hi everyone.
I hope you are all having a lovely afternoon.
How did your birthday go Jean? did you have a nice time?
And how is J now, getting better I do hope.
Thank you for the explanation,Debbie. I hope you and the family are well.
Nice to hear from you Sallie, you are a night owl arn't you.
I try to be in bed by eleven at the latest, even if I cant get to sleep straight away. I take my sleeping tablet at ten p.m,and they take about an hour to work. I wish I didn't have to take them, but with this osteo arthritus, the pains I get in my head during the night, wake me up otherwise. Poor old soul.
Well girls,it's a lovely day here in Kent again today. My oriental lilies look
really beautiful, there out in full bloom, and the rest of the garden is looking
good. After all my hard work,in planting it up,I am so pleased with it.
Well I must go and do dinner now. Take care. Love to all. Mo xxx

Hi All,

Just a quick message, as it's a bit late.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Jean! Hope you have a lovely day and that your legs will feel better. How is J feeling? I hope the anti-biotics are now working well, and that he's feeling a lot better.

Debbie, you have all had a busy week - but I'm sure it's been worth it.
It must have been nice for you all this evening, to be able to relax and
watch a DVD. Hope you all have a nice weekend!

Mo, nice to hear from you earlier, and to know that you are alright.

Take care of yourselves ladies and have a lovely weekend.

Goodnight,

Sallie.

Ok Mo, Brazillian Soccer (which I had never heard of either) is based primarily on individual skills rather than all team work. It suits the younger ones more as they are not quite up to continual team training. They always end with a game at the end of the session, but work the whole session by themselves until the last 10-15mins.

It originated (surprisingly) in Brazil, and is what the youngsters play there in their bare feet on the beach or in the streets. The most famous Brazillian player, Ronaldinhio (?sp), started off that way and has endorsed the Brazillian Soccer schools worldwide.

Over here they also have a beach soccer league which is for the older children and adults alike. Apparently it is a very up and coming sport and may even become a demonstration Olympic sport, a bit like the beach volleyball. Watch this space. No, my big 2 don't play it. They prefer grass & mud.

Thanks for the good wishes for Daniel & Matthew. They are much appreciated.

Jean, every best wish for a lovely day tomorrow. Try to take it easy and look after yourself and hubby with care.

Night night

O.k Debbie,I give up. What is Brazilian soccer. And how does it vary from ours.
Matthew and Daniel, are our little stars, they did really well again.
I can't believe how many girls are into football and soccer, nowadays good
for them I say. I hope little one enjoys her party.
Well "Petrol Head" enjoy the weather whilst it's nice, and don't get to excited
at the motoring festival.
It's all right for some, enjoying themselves at beachside cafes, while we get a soaking. lol.
Best wishes to all you family. Mo xxx

Hello Ladies. Oh poor Jean, if it isn't one thing it's another. I am sure the hot weather has played its part in your swollen legs as well. I hope they soon go down. It can actually be quite painful can't it.

I though, Mo, that only my children had selective hearing:-))

Sallie, your daughter is really in the wars isn't she but at least the hospital are well on top of the treatment they are giving her. Hopefully eventually it will allow her a better quality of life.

Guess What..........NO ATHLETICS TODAY.......... so I treated myself out to lunch with a girlfriend at a lovely beach cafe. Only sandwiches and water but it's always nice to have someone else make it.

The boys did well in the running yesterday. Matthew had a 3rd place and Daniel two 2nds, so they were very happy.

Son No.3 is at Brazillian Soccer at the moment. He finishes at 6.20 so then I think we are all in for the evening. Pizzas and a DVD to watch seems to be the order of the day I think. We've had a busy week.

Youngest has Brazillian Soccer at 10 tomorrow then a swimming party at 2, so she will be busy. Let's hope the weather holds as the pool is in the hosts' garden. Not sure how they would cope if they had to have 15 excited 6 year old girls running around indoors.

Sorry, Mo, our weather is fantastic again, risk of a shower overnight then lovely again tomorrow. We have a 3 day motoring festival here this weekend with some amazing events and cars, so I think I may go and watch some of it. I'm a bit of a closet "Petrol Head" but don't tell anyone. My OH can't understand why I get so excited at seeing cars racing.

Anyway, hope you are all as well as can be expected. Look after yourselves.

Afternoon girls.
Perhaps the stockings will help Jean. You can but try. The support they give is pretty good, and if you are stood for to long periods, they will help.
As Sallie says, put your feet up. If you elevate them in the afternoon,up on pillows or cushions, that should help for bed time.
And I have to admit,I don't always hear what people say to me. I think I have selective deafness, when I need to. That's why it's easier for me on here,I can actually see the words, and dont have to rely on my ears.
Poor Roly,he is always shouting at me,and says I am ignoring him on purpose.
It cant be long now till Marilyn gets her hearing aids fitted. There you go,we talk about a subject, and I go of at a tangent. Sorry about that.
Well girls.the weather here has really broken. It's horrid out there. We had rain this morning,my washing came in wetter than it went out.
Nothing much happening today,I am afraid. So I will bid you farewell, and
I will speak to you tommorrow. Take care, love to you all. Mo xxx

Sallie Report 5 Jun 2009 14:11

Hello Jean,

Sorry they couldn't do more for you, apart from wearing support stockings.
You would think that in this day and age, there would be something they could give you, Jean!
I know that it isn't always possible, but you will have to try and elevate your legs more during the day.
Hope R is feeling a bit better today! Your daughter sounds a bit like my daughter - always looking on the positive side.

Speak to you soon.

Sallie.

Hi Everyone,

Jean, sorry to hear that J isn't feeling to well at the moment. It takes about fortyeight hours for the anti-biotics to kick in, doesn't it - the trouble is, when we are poorly they don't seem to work quick enough.
I hope you will get on alright at the doctors tomorrow - have you seen the doctor about your legs before now, Jean? I'll be thinking about you - and that the doctor can give you something for them - hopefully you can then get a good nights sleep.
Sorry Jean, I didn't know that your daughter has MS. Best wishes to you all!

Mo, good to hear that you are plodding along nicely. Although sorry to hear that Roly's got to have another cataract removed . It's all coming at the same time, isn't it. Please tell him that I am thinking about him and hope that his problems will soon be sorted.

Debbie, your boys have done well! After doing so well I think both Daniel and Matthew deserve a bit of " flirting". It's also nice to see that when they don't do so well, they can take it in good part.
It's been cloudy and cooler here today, too. I don't like it too hot, so the cooler weather suits me fine - although hubby loves it when it's hot.

Marilyn, don't worry about not writing as much as some of us. Some days there seems to be a lot to talk about, and other days hardly anything to say. I know how you feel after visitors have gone home - the house is so quiet.

Jennie was only given enough medication for two weeks, so she has to go again in two weeks time, when she will be given medication for four weeks. Then four weeks later, she will be given medication for eight weeks. It's good that they build up the dosage over the weeks rather than all in one go.
She was telling us, that over the four hours they were taking her blood pressure, temperature and oxygen level every half hour. It's nice to know that they were keeping a close check on her, in case of a reaction! They also gave her a very nice lunch - a lot nicer than when she's had to stay in hospital.
But, as Jennie said, as long as she's getting the care and treatment, she's not too bothered.
Thank you all, for sending your good wishes to her!

Well, after going on and on, I think I had better finish!

Best wishes and good luck to you all.

Wow, this is lovely,so many messages from you all.
I am going to start from the top and work down.
Hello Sallie. We are waiting to hear when Roly's appointments come through. I am fine thank you, plodding along nicely. Well we woman have to,don't we. We have to be the strong ones.
I hope Jennies treatment went o.k,without any side affects. And that you are feeling a little more relaxed about it. It doesn't matter what age they are, our children will always be our children.
Hello Jean, our little headless chick. I hope that J's medication is clearing
up the infection. For goodness sake,if he is going to sneeze again, put your finger under his nose to stop him,we dont want him splitting his stitches, bless him.
Did you get any sleep last night,as you were on here very early. How are your legs now? are you still getting restless legs of a night time.
I am wondering if Dutch has phoned her doctor yet, she's a naughty girl
leaving it so long to get things sorted.
Oh Marilyn, whats this about wanting someone to entertain you. It's about time you had a bit of rest babe, you have been running around after every
one else for some time now. Mind you it takes a little time,to readjust doesn't it,after running round, like our Jean said, like a headless chicken.
Chill out for a bit.
Look out girls, here come our Debbie, she's running onto the thread, with all the likkle athletes following her. The boys did well again Debbie.
Now come on,I am sure the boys are not chatting the girls up, they are just discussing tactics.
Don't they grow up so quickly, one minute they are our babies, and the next
they are chasing girls.
Roly went to the opticians today,to get his eyes tested. And on top of everything else,he has got a cattaract in his eye,and has to have it removed. He has had one eye done, but has got to get the other sorted now. I told you,we women have to be strong. I am sure the poor old boy is falling apart at the seams.
Speak to you tommorrow. Love to all. Mo xxx

Morning All, Mo & Jean, I'm sorry to read that respective Hubbies aren't too good at the moment. At least they are both receiving the best care and attention they can (from their wives). Jean, look after yourself as well, we don't want 2 casualties in the same house.

Sallie, good luck for your daughter. I know you will be worried until she gets the all clear to leave hospital, but at least they have the decency to keep her in to check her reactions. Not sure that would happen everywhere, possibly some people are just told to go home and rest for a while. Isn't it awful that some people just mess hospital appointments around so much. As if those poor Doctors & Nurses don't have enough on their plates. There are loads of notices all round our hospital saying that the patient will be sent a bill if they do not turn up for an appointment, and haven't phoned to cancel.

All well here though. Last day today of the Athletics for this week. Daniel came 3rd in both High Jump & Javelin yesterday and Matthew came 2nd in Javelin and so far down the list in Long Jump he didn't bother to find out his result. At least he laughs about it.

Both are running 1500m today and Daniel is also doing 400m, so a tiring one for him, but I'm sure he'll manage.

I am certain that the boys only go there half the time to chat up the girl competitors from the other schools!!! They seem to spend a lot of their "warming up time" just flirting. Oh, what it is to be young and early teens. :-)))

Still lovely weather here, though a bit cloudier. Very hot 25ยบ yesterday, only 19 today. Have been for a fantastic 2 hour walk and just about to get lunch.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Mind I do knock on 4 other threads on a daily basis.

I hope you get better with your medical problem, that we don't need in this lovely weather.

I just want someone to entertain me now that all my guests have gone, cant see that happening until my holidays !!

Hoping you are all trying to look after your loved ones.

Going shopping today .....need to get off my backside and do some walking ...but I bet I spend too much money ! LOL

Hi, everyone, sorry I havent been on lately, but I seem to be running around like a headless chick.... J isnt too well at the moment his wound is still seeping, but we hope the antibiotics soon kick in. he sneezed yesterday an bo y did that hurt !!! this is when I regret my not keeping my driving up, It would have been very handy now, but I have to rely on My daughter doing the shops after she finishes work, its hard on her as you know she has M.S. but what a very strong and positive lady she is, dont mean to moan, but I have very bad leg pains and am unable to get a good nights sleep, which makes me grumpy.

Sallie I am praying for the new medication to be right for Jennie, it must be so difficult for you.... ((((((((( X )))))))))

Mo, I am sorry to hear about Roly, but at least something is getting done, give him my love and best wishes, I was diagnosed quite a few years ago with gallstones, and was due to have a op, but was told to cut out fats and moderate my eating, less pastry ect; and so far have managed to avoid surgery, so there is life after gallstones.......

What busy folk you all are, but been there done that and bought several t shirts, so wish you all good luck.....

Hi, Marilyn, hope you are o.k. take care...

I love the hot weather, but only when we dont have to do any work to do, so its better a bit cooler, never satisfied are we??? going to nip in the shower before J is up. speak to you all soon....

Love Jean xx

Sallie Report 3 Jun 2009 23:19

Hi Everyone,
I'm a bit late looking in today - had visitors this afternoon, and then when Alun got home we had to go and do the weekly shopping.

Mo, it's a lot cooler here today too, like you I needed to put a jacket on to go shopping. Sorry to hear that Roly has gall stones and a cyst on his liver.
I hope there is some kind of medication they can give him, so that he won't have any pain or discomfort. When does he start physio for his back? How are you Mo? Hope everything is alright with you.

Debbie, pleased that your sister is okay - it's good that the hospital keep a
close eye on her. How did the boys get on today? They seem to enjoy the competitions - it's good that they have an interest in something.
Please, give them my good luck wishes for tomorrow.

Jean, I read your thread and hope J is starting to feel better after having an infection - nothing is ever straight forward, is it.
Hope you are able to relax a little bit Jean. All the best to you both!

Tomorrow, my daughter ( Jennie ) starts on her new medication, she has
to ring the hospital in the morning, to let them know that she will be going in by eleven o-clock. They will then start her on the drip, which will last for two hours, she then has to wait at the hospital for another two hours just in case she'll have a reaction to the medication. So I'll be like a cat on hot bricks tomorrow, until I know she's okay.
Apparently, the reason she has to let them know that she'll be there, is because the medication is very expensive and has to be mixed beforehand - some patients don't bother to turn up, and haven't the decency to let them know. Once it's mixed it can't be kept - what a waste of money!

By the way, the deleted thread is mine - goodness knows what I did, but it
ended up on the page, only half written, so deleted it.

Well, I'm going to have a hot drink now, before going to bed.

Speak to you all tomorrow. Best wishes to you all!

Sallie.

Mo in Kent Report 3 Jun 2009 18:30

Good evening all.
Debbie, you are so lucky if you have still got nice weather. It has turned cold
here again,I had to put a jacket on when I went shopping.
We got the results of Roly's scan today. His kidneys are o.k, BUT, he has
small gall stones, and a small fatty cyst on his liver, so now has to see a gastro enterologist. He has also got to have physio on his back. My goodness,it never rains but it pours. Doctor said none of it warrants surgery, but one does begin to wonder,is it an age thing.
We have not heard from Jean for a couple of days, but I did read on her thread, that J has an infection,in the operation site, and is on anti-biotics.
So if you are looking in Jean, big{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}} for you both.
Hope to get all your news soon. Love Mo xxx

Deborah Report 3 Jun 2009 11:50

Hi All, lovely day here today, even hotter than yesterday as we have lost the cooling breeze. I'll have to lotion myself up to watch the athletics today. No Mo, not a tent, just loads of food and drinks to hand out. I manage to come home in the evenings :-)) Actually it's not too bad. I was only there 1.30 - 4.00 yesterday, same today and tomorrow then next Weds as well. The boys are doing well, and enjoying the experience.

I wish we only had a hedge problem with our neighbours, Mo. The fence between our garden blew down in an earlier storm and we now only have patches of it left. The reason being that we looked after our side annually but they never treated their side and it rotted. They want a new fence put up but we are a bit reluctant and are thinking of a wall, upon which we can grow climbers. Then it shouldn't fall down in the wind. They aren't so keen. I think it is a cost issue. Maybe we'll just get it done and forget about it.

Sallie, thanks for asking. My sister (Sally!) is fine as long as she keeps up her medication and is careful with her diet. She manages very well with it, though sometimes the illness does flare up and she has to adjust doseages. She has regular hospital checks and they are pleased with her situation.

Jean, I am pleased that all is going well with J, and hope that you are both coping. Remember to look after yourself as well.

Must go and hang the washing out, taking advantage of the sun and doing "one off" items, that need a sunny day to dry.

Hope you all have a great day

Mo in Kent Report 2 Jun 2009 21:35

Hello Debbie and Sallie, good to hear from you again,I enjoy our little chats
Debbie, are you actually putting up a tent,at the athletics club. I have a vision of you, round a camp fire, cooking beans and sausages for the children, and singing songs. I know I am doo lally.
I know how quickly money goes, when you are shopping. And you don't get as much for what you spend either.
Guess what Sallie,Roly did finish the hedge in the end. But he only did our side,I was terrified he was going to do himself a damage, ie lose a finger,or electrocute himself.
But we have shamed our neighbours into finishing the rest. I wish you could have seen their faces when they got home from work, and realised it had been cut. BUT,they did not notice it until today.
We went over to Gravesend today, and had a look round the marina they have developed. Golly we did not recognise it,and it was so hot there.
So we decided to go into town,it was stifling in the shops, even with the air
conditioning on in them. So we gave up and came home, and slobbed around the house instead.
Well girls,I will speak to you tommorrow. Take care, both of you. Mo xxx
