Hello all you lovely ladies. It was so nice to log on,and find you all here talking,to each other. It seems that we all have our crosses to bear, and we carry them with dignity. I am so proud to know you all. Huia, I do wish we were nearer to you,I feel we would all like to be of some help to you both. But we are here ,to help in any way we can,by listening if you are feeling down, and a shoulder if you ever need it. I can understand how tiring it must be for you, even though you say it's not always like it. But like so many people, you have to be alert all the time,i.e the tablet situation. It is such a huge job that carers do,without much recognition,or help. And I have great admiration for everyone, who cares for loved ones like you do. And I know we do it for love of our partners. The children did very well Debbie, please congratulate them for me. The three months will soon go Marilyn, and you will feel like a new woman with your new BAHA's in place. Oooooh Sallie, what are you doing to me girl,Martin Shaw, cor I could give up my chocolate for him,and I lurve my chocs. My waistline agrees with me on that. Jean Jean Jean, what am I going to do with you. Are you still eating properly,I bet you've gone of it again. It's all this worry about J. The sooner they send him his appointment through, the better it will be. PLEASE take care of yourself,we worry about you my love. Well, mrs gas bag is going to love you and leave you. PLEASE take care of yourselves, love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Hi everyone. Sorry to read of various ailments on here since I last wrote. No matter what we do to try and help ourselves with our health there is always something around the corner isn't there?
Anyway, a gorgeous day here today, the sun is shining and the wind has finally dropped. I can get a load of washing dry and I certainly always have plenty to do.
OH survived the weekend in France, spent all the money he took and didn't get much sleep, but he had fun - and he had NO RAIN AT ALL!!!
My weekend went well, considering I had loads of extra children - do any of you have these special houses with elasticated walls like mine? They really are fantastic; everytime the door bell rings and someone else "just pops in", there is always room for them. I love a busy noisy house.
The boys did really well in their running. 13year old was 2nd in his age group out of 10, the 12year old was 5th in his age group out of 21 and my 7 year old was 18th in his age group of 23. So they all did very well. There were 108 under 17's taking part.
The wheelchair entrants were amazing to watch. They need so much upper body strength and some of them were only 9 & 10. I find it hard to walk up a hill sometimes and they were propelling their special chairs with such ease. Quite put me to shame, when I moan sometimes about a hard walk that we may be doing.
Anyway, off to unload the washing machine again and onto the next task.
Have a lovely afternoon DEBBIE

Hi Jean & Everyone ,
Jean, I do hope you start to feel better soon, its not like you, never mind ,If this weather improves I'm sure we will all feel better.
You mentioned hearing glasses, well I've had those and they wernt very successful as the hearing mechanism on the arm of the glasses make the glasses heavy on the bridge of your nose,if you see what I mean ???
Oh dear what we have to go through to survive living...!!
Well its Raining Cats & Dogs not getting any garding done today or washing.....so its a lazy day today...any excuse LOL

Jean, my OH is not like that every night, thank goodness. I do manage to catch up on my sleep sometimes. I usually have a snooze on the settee for an hour after lunch, which helps. We are out in the country so it is not easy to get help, but there is a local man, a member of our volunteer fire fighting group who takes him for a 1 - 2 hr walk once a week. Man and his wife take their dog every other day of the week but when the wife is shopping it gives him company and helps me enormously. I am extremely grateful to him for thinking of it. Also, on Sundays my OH usually goes hiking with a couple of women. I have to drive him up to their place (1 hr drive) and I then have several hours to window shop in peace, and I usually lie down on the bench seat of our utility vehicle and have a snooze. I will be asking OH's sister to come and stay for a few days so I can get away for a break. That is the condition of respite care here in NZ, that I go away while somebody stays, otherwise they dont get paid, not that sis-in-law wants the money.
Must be off to bed now, OH went an hour ago so I need to go in the hopes of dropping off straight away. (It is now 10pm)

Good morning friends, what awful weather we are having at the moment, cant do with the cold.!! I havent been on line much , bit poorlie, keep having a sickly feeling most of the time, but I still keep waking up each day.lol
J loves the George Gently plays too, I am more of D.I.Y.S.O.S. and Houses under the Hammer. what a sad person I am, but dont you just love Nick Knowles, But my favs are series such as Larkrise to Candleford and that sort of era....
Huia, My heart goes out to you, it must be so difficult for you, how do you get any sleep?are there anyone near you that could help so you could get some rest, were I live there are peeps who have sufferers for a couple of hours each day, my friend does it he takes a man out and the mans wife sleeps whilst they are out.....Could your oh have a full sleeping tablet sometime, all these suggestions sound a bit feeble ,but we do worry about you, and feel helpless.... we willl continue to send prayers and thoughts for you .....
Marilyn, I was very interested to read your add, I am going to google the info, I really could do to get the ears seen to, I hate the thought of anything in my ears, I had a look at hearing aids in glasses great idea, but so expensive nearly £ 2000, pounds!!! out of my reach. ...
Hi, Mo, wish we did have some sunshine , we managed a little walk on Friday, but had to come home as it poured down.... the plants look very well though... we feel to be walking on eggshells at the moment, waiting for Js appointment....cant be long now.... he just wants to get it over and done with...
I was thinking of the folk who added to the original thread, and wondered how they all are , can you remember any names, I know Berona comes on sometimes, but my mind isnt what it used to be, so if you can think of anyone else it would be nice to think of them,
Have a good week folks, take care....
love Jean xx

Hi everyone,
I know it's late, but just looked in to see if you are all ok.
We've been watching George Gentley tonight, there's a nice story each week - being set in the sixties, it reminds me of when I was young. I am a fan of Martin Shaw, think he's a couple of years older than me. First watched him in The Professionals - he always gives the impression that he's so laid back'
I'll say goodnight now, speak again tomorrow.
Take car everyone.

Hi Everyone,
Its been an awful day today winds howling and rain pouring. So had to sit in today .....and do some research.
MO, I quite agree with you on the song we had it was very repetitive and I didn't like it that much. A lovely singer...
I get the little box as that is what it is. fixed onto the screw in three months time , as it has to heal really hard around the screw. Its called a BAHA hearing aid and it works on the bone behind the ear conductive hearing through the bone Look it up on Google its very interesting. So in the meantime I will wear my normal hearing aid.
Goodness me I have given you a medical lesson LOL
Waving to you all ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ hope you are all well. xxx

MO, thanks for asking. The night before last I didnt get much sleep so was in a bad mood all day. Last night I had trouble getting to sleep (should have taken half a sleeping pill) and as I was tossing and turning at midnight my OH asked if I wanted a cuppa. I ignored him and soon after fell asleep. I woke at 3am and noticed a chink of light from the other end of the house. I thought he might have been making a cuppa for me. Not that I wanted one. When it hadnt arrived by 3.15 I went out and found him sitting in the lounge on the settee with a blanket wrapped around him. I gave him half a sleeping pill, took the other half myself and ordered him back to bed. He brought me a cuppa at 6.30 and I said its not daylight yet (I had put a note on the bench 'not before daylight'). He kept offering me one every quarter hour after that. At 7 I told him I wanted to sleep for another hour. He didnt bring me another so I got another hours sleep, still not enough but I dont want to leave him playing around on his own, dont know what he will do. Last night when I went to take my lipitor tablet just after dinner the bottle wasnt in the place I always keep it. I finally found it with his titralac tabs. I suspect he might have taken a couple of mine thinking they were his. I have now gathered up all tabs and am going to keep them in a safe place and only dish them out to him when he needs them. Worse than having a small child in the house.

Afternoon all. Well we came fifth,in the contest. Thank the lord we did'nt win . How would we as a country have been able to afford to run it,next year. It's bad enough us,trying to make the money go round,to accomodate the olympics in2012 I do not really think Norway should have won though,it was an o.k song, but my preference was for Iceland. Jade did a stirling job,for our country, but I thought it was a very boring song, and so repetative. And we as a nation chose it. I have to admit,I did not vote, but then what difference would my one vote have made. And then of course, the cost of sending Jade and sir Andrew Lloyd Webber out there. Sorry folks I will get down of my soap box now,it's just that it grieves me the money wasted. I hope you are enjoying your day Sallie,Huia, Jean,Marilyn and not forgetting our fun runner, Debbie. I hope the children enjoyed themselves Debbie, and are not to exhausted. I bet they found the energy to eat the ice cream though. Have your hearing aids been fitted yet Marilyn?and how are you getting on with them? Good day to you Huia, hope you and your OH are well. Hello our lovely Jean,I hope you and J are enjoying some sunshine where you are. We have still got sunshine and high winds here, but I am still enjoying watching the plants grow. Love and best wishes to you all. BIG ~~~~~~~~~to Marie in case you look in. Mo xxx

We aren't watching Eurovision, though I think we should do better than in previous years if only because of the Lloyd Webber connection. It would be personally awful for The Lord if we did really badly.
I have a house full of 12 & 13 year olds so Singing isn't quite their thing. They are playing on the Wii at the moment, but bed soon if they all want to do well in the run tomorrow.
No, Mo, I am not running. The fun run is for Under 17's, so I am just there to take the photos and hold the coats. It is run in conjunction with a half marathon on at the same time-more to keep families all involved in the same thing. Money raised goes toward the Jersey Sports Accociation for the Disabled, and some of their members take part in the 3k fun run in their wheelchairs, and others help out at the water stations along the course. It is actually a great event to get involved with.
We saw Madagascar 2 at the cinema, and really enjoyed it. Can't go too far wrong for £1.00 can you? There are always 3 films at £1.00 on a Saturday morning, all suitable for children. Takes me back to when I was able to go to the "flicks" for the same when I was younger.
Anyway, off to chase these children into bed, with 3 extra boys here tonight it is a bit like Testosterone on Speed in my Sitting Room at the moment.
Will let you all know how we get on tomorrow. Night night DEBBIE

Yes it would be nice if we can get some points this time wouldn't it, Mo. We are not watching it-- haven't for a few years now.
I don't know if we will do any better under the new voting system, we'll have to wait and see!
Hope all you ladies are alright, and that you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I hope you enjoyed your film treat Debbie. Are you doing the run tommorrow,or are you the back up for the children? Give them the biggest ice cream, thats a going, they will deserve it. I don't know what has happened to the rain, that was forecast for this weekend,as it's been lovely here in Kent,a bit blowy but nice all the same. I am going to be boring now,and admit that I am going to watch the eurovision contest, tonight. Just to see if we can actually get some points this time round. Andrew Lloyd Webber is going to be on stage with Jade, so lets wait and see shall we. What do you all feel about it? We have been so out voted by europe for far to long now,so it's time for a change. Best wishes to you all. Love Mo xxx

Morning All, how are we today?
Oh Huia, it's so good to see that even on the other side of the world you have problems with the "Men in Suits" whose right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Seems to be the same the world over, but just adjusted proportionately according to the size or population of a place. Just brings the world that much more together doesn't it?
Bottle Brush plants are gorgeous when they are in flower, Mo. I know exactly what they are but haven't got the faintest idea of more than that. Considering my Dad is a retired Agriculturalist, I should be ashamed of myself. Unfortunately for him, none of us followed in his greenfingered footsteps, though I can recognise a good few plants.
Yeah, I know hubby is a bit of a gad about, but I suppose he's allowed being as it is him that earns the pennies. But I'm getting my own back this weekend!!!
We are off to the cinema for the £1.00 films at 10.00, just me and the little 2, so I think we will have popcorn and fizzy drinks. Then I thought that after the fun run tomorrow, I may treat them all to ice creams, then that will lead to lunch out at a little cafe, then maybe something in the afternoon.
We will all be looking the size of a house when he returns, but at least we will have had fun doing it :-)))
Seriously though, he goes away on these trips 2 or 3 times a year. Does him good to have time out. Just very lucky he has such a nice wife :-))
Anyway, off to start jobs before I go out.
Have a lovely Saturday everyone. DEBBIE

Marie, I know what STRESS is like. You have all my sympathy. No, the Callistemon is not a native of New Zealand but we do have other members of the Myrtle family.
Marilyn, I am in the Hunua Hills just 40 mins (depending on traffic) from the Big Smoke of Auckland. Before long I will be J.A.F.A. For those who dont know, people south of here call people from Auckland: Just Another F***ing Aucklander. Not that we are planning to move, but a Royal Commission decided in its wisdom (Big Query there) that Auckland should become a super city. They have decided that Franklin District (which is mainly rural, the most populated part being the town of Pukekohe just to the North of the Waikato River), Papakura City, Manukau City, North Shore City, Waitakere City, and Rodney District which is another semi-rural district to the north, including the seaside resort of Orewa, should all be done away with and become part of Auckland with a Stupid Mayor at its head, 8 councillors elected 'at large' (which means that they will probably all live in the posh suburbs of Remuera and the likes and will not care 2 hoots about the rest of us) and the rest of the city will be divided into 6 (?) wards which will elect 2 councillors each, if I remember rightly. In Franklin my current councillors who all live 40 or more km away from here do not even know where our road is so what show have I of having a councillor who knows or cares about the problems of our road? Most of the people of Franklin and Papakura are angry over this. Auckland will take our rates and use them to tart up the central city or build big edifices to be named after themselves. We will go to pot (and there are plenty of potholes on my road already). Can you tell I am angry?
Huia.

Hello everyone,
Mo, I am feeling much better, thank you. It was only a cold, but it did make me feel out of sorts for a couple of days. I see you have got some advice about your bottle brush plant, off some of the gardners on here.
Marie, I hope your ulcers and cold sores are getting better. I'm sorry you are not feeling very well. Enjoy your trip to Rockhampton to visit your brother and sister. The break will do you good, and hopefully you will feel a lot better, when you return home. Please give my get well wishes to your daughter.
Huia, I hope everything is alright with you and your family. Don't worry about your spelling Huia, I was good at spelling, but the older I'm getting the worse I am at trying to spell, even the simplest words at times.
Debbie, you are going to have a busy weekend! I know the feeling when you say you will probably have extras, my two always had their friends in tow, too. Good luck to your children for the fun run on Sunday - hope it will stay dry for that.
Marilyn, the weather has been wet and dull here too - with thundering and lightening at times. I love sweet peas, they not only have a lovely smell but they look so pretty in a vase too.
Jean, it will be nice when your hubby has had his operation - you can then start planning your holiday. Which, will be good for the both of you.
Enjoy your weekend everyone.
Best wishes, Sallie.

Hello everyone. It's so good to hear from you all again. Thank you Huia and Marie for the info on my bottle plant. Sorry to hear you have not been feeling to good Sallie. I do hope you get better soon. Don't worry about spelling mistakes Huia,I am famous for making them. I hope your OH is o.k. It must be very tiring for you. Bless you . Well our Jean,a small garden can be an advantage. Ours is only tiny but I have lots of pots,I can't use the soil,as my cat uses it for her toilet, and ruins the soil. As fast as I clear the garden she goes behind me,leaving me her little parcels everywhere. It will be so nice for you and J to have a nice holiday in Jersey, when he has put his op behind him. Oooooh Marilyn,FARMERS you are norty. I bet you enjoyed yourself that day. So you did put your sweetpeas out then. It sounds like they are flourishing. They do smell lovely don't they though. Golly Debbie, your OH is a proper gad about. it's not like we can say, have a nice peaceful time whilst he is away,is it. The children will probably want friends,to stay over, and you have to be up early on Sunday, for the funrun. Are you taking part as well? If you are, take it nice and easy, and don't overdo it. Oh Marie,I am so sorry you are feeling down at the moment. It will be so nice for you to see your family again, and hopefully it will help to make you feel a little better. It's good to hear that Kerry got through her op o.k. Give her my regards. Well all you lovely ladies,I am going to sign out now,as I have got writers cramp. Love and all my very best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Marie, from OZ. Hello everyone,Sorry to hear your weather Isnt so good Very nice here,a bit windy to-day. Mo as Huia said you have a Callistemon, there is a large family of them I love them and have put a large number of them in my native garden. To keep them looking nice you do need to trim them after they finish flowering, they come in a large range of colors, you now have a little bit of Aussie growing in your garden as they are native to Aust and possibly New Zealand.Think of me when you look at it.
I havent been chatting as I have been a little unwell STRESS I have had ulcers in my mouth and 2huge coldsores on my lips, ( not a happy chappie) On the 20th of May I am flying to Rockhampton to visit my Brother and Sister, My Family shouted me the air fare as a present for Mothers Day and Birthday. I will be returning on the 7 th June, I dont have a laptop so I cant stay in touch. June I hope all goes well with J and the operation, My daughter Kerry had her op on wed. she is a bit sore but she assures me she is fine.
Hi to Sallie Marilyn and Debbie,I am looking forward to this break with my siblings and I really do need it as I am feeling very down ,not much joy in my family at the moment, but there is always some one worse off than we are, like the old song,Look for the silver Lining to-morrow will be better. Its almost Midnight I must catch some sleep. Hugs to you all Marie xxxxxxxxxxx

Morning all, how are you all today?
Early start for me today as Hubby had to be at the harbour first thing. He has gone to France to play golf for 3 days. Rather him than me, the sea looked so rough, and I am a terrible sailor. So I am left with the 4 children and I am sure there will be extras over the weekend. The oldest 2 seem to have a permanent entourage with them.
Jean, Jersey is lovely, though not today!!! Wet and very windy again, and the forecast isn't much better for the weekend. The children are doing a 3k fun run on Sunday at 9.30am so I hope it is at least dry for them to do that.
If you want any info on the Island, PM me and I'll see what I can do to help.
Here's wishing you all a Happy Friday.
