Hi Sallie. It's been blowing a gale here all day. But I did get all the bedding dry, thank goodness.
I have not been out at all, since Monday. Still got this blessed flu. But I will have to venture out tommorrow,as we can't live on fresh air.
I hope Jennie is o.k now,and that you are feeling well also.
Love to all. Mo xxx

Sallie Report 7 May 2009 18:00

Hello MO,
How is everything with you today?

Weather is nice and bright here today, but a bit windy. So have managed
to get some washing dried.

Been up to town - market day today, so it was good to have it dry.

Other than that, it's all very quiet.

Sallie.

Hi Debbie and Sallie.
I also was tested for ulcerative cholitus, many years ago. I spent weeks in hospital being transferred, form the medical to surgical teams. In the end they told me I have irritable bowel syndrone. That is bad enough, but not as
bad as crohn's. I do not envy anybody who suffers from it. Please give them my best wishes, and tell them to keep their chins up,they will be in my prayers.
I am going to take my tablets, and get into bed,in the hopes I will feel better
in the morning. It's like a flu virus, and I wont go out of the house, till it has gone. With this swine fever about,if I sneeze, people will start to think I have got it.
Goodnight god bless you all, speak to you tommorrow. Mo xxx

Sallie Report 6 May 2009 22:23

Hello all,
Sorry I forgot to say that Crohn's affects both the small and large colon.
Jennie has ulcers in the small colon, unlike the large colon it isn't easy to take part of the small colon away. Jennie has also been told by the consultant, that some people have Crohn's in the mouth.
Apparently the ulcers that Jennie's got are quite deep into the colon, so can't take part of it away. We'll just have to wait and see how things will go.

Deborah, I'm really sorry to hear that your sister has both Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis. It's bad enough having one of them, but two, it must be very difficult for her. Please give her my best wishes!

I was in such a hurry earlier on, that I forgot to finish explaining about Crohn's disease. I was so excited because I was going to do my favourite
chore. I don't think!

All the best, Sallie.

Deborah

Deborah Report 6 May 2009 20:29

Hi all, greetings from Jersey. Lovely sunny day here today and more on the way for tomorrow. Went for a very long walk (route march) with a friend thismorning. Gotta make an effort to shift the excess flab. We do ok till we get to the end and the cup of tea beckons and tea is no good without a cake or biscuit is it? Rude not to have one when someone has gone to the trouble of making them and they look so lovely on the counter.

Sallie, my sister has Crohns disease, accompanied by Ulcerative Colitis so I can understand what your family are going through. My sister has a special key for disabled toilets and also has been issued with a medical card that she is able to show in any public place to gain access to their facilities, even if she isn't using that particular establishment. It has come in handy when she has been on holiday in a different town and could not find any public toilets. She just goes into the nearest shop/cafe/restaurant etc, and they have to allow her use of their facilities. Certainly takes away a lot of worry for her.

All well here. I actually managed to do some more work on my Tree today. The first for ages. I have really come to a standstill, and the brick wall I'm hitting just gets higher.

Hope you are all fit and well and enjoying life. Have a lovely evening.

Hello everybody,
Just looking in before I go out to do the weekly shopping, a job I hate doing. Although it is only the two of us now, I still seem to spend more than I want. The prices seem to go up each week!

Thank you Jean for your PM, Hope you have recovered from doing all the washing and ironing.

Mo and Marie, my daughter Jennie is twenty four at the end of the month, she has been married to Michael for three years. He fusses round her like a mother hen.
Jennie has suffered from Crohn's for just over five years, a couple of months before her ninteenth birthday.
Crohn's is a disease of the colons, there is no cure for the disease, although it is not life threatening, it is not very nice to have. A lot of people that have it, are often frightened to go out because of needing the toilet.
And as you have all probably found, there is never one near when you need one. Crohn's is also very painful and uncomfortable, especially when patients suffer a flare up.

Jennie hasn't long been out of hospital, after suffering from another flare up, it was the third flare up in six months. The consultant, now seems to think that her medication is not working, so are thinking of changing it.
She has been given the choice of one, of two new ones, one has a low risk of getting cancer, the other one, she would have to go into hospital
every eight weeks to have the medication through a drip. Both drugs lowers the immune system. Not much of a choice really!

Marie, I was very pleased to know that your granddaughter could go to her graduation!

I must go and get the shopping done now. Thank you all for asking about Jennie. Speak to you all soon.

Best wishes, Sallie.

made no differance at all!!!

Huia, what great names you all have, mind you we dont have birds with such exotic names, but a lot of celebs name their offspring after seasons and flowers, take care lovely lady , ....

Huia Report 5 May 2009 19:56

Jean and all who have wondered about my name: I live in New Zealand and the Huia is an extinct bird. My parents named all 4 of their daughters after NZ birds: Tui (the parson bird), Riro (short for riroriro the grey warbler) and the 4th was Tiora (stitchbird which is more commonly known by the Maori as Hihi or Tihi - imagine being called that - pronounced heehee or teehee!) My name is pronounced hoo-ee-ah, more or less.

Heteralocha acutirostris (to give my latin name)

Good evening ladies.
Sallie,It was good to hear that your daughter enjoyed her meal. How long has she had Chron's Disease?. It must be very debilitating for her. I hope you are well in yourself.
Huia,Septic Tanks are a flaming nuisance arn't they. My daughter lived in a house that had a Cess Pit,in fact it was a new estate they built. And instead of putting in main drains, they built them all with Cess Pits. So they had to pay every time they were emptied. In the end,all the neighbours got together, and paid to have mains put in. It was not easy,as she has three daughters, and with her and her OH,you can imagine what went down that cess pit every day, yuk sorry to lower the tone girls.
Sue,I hope your son enjoyed his cricket. My boys never got into it,to my OH
dissapointment,he loved to play, and will watch it whenever he can.
I love to watch the birds in the garden as well. Especially first thing in the
morning, just as it is getting light.
Hi there Marilyn, good to hear from you. I mean't to pm you yesterday,to find out how you were. But I hold my hands up,and admit,I forgot SORRY.
How did you get on at the hospital?. Did they take your stitches for you?
I bet it feels a lot better now doesn't it. I must apologise for not contacting you before,I feel really bad about it.
Well our lovely Jean, how's you today? I hope you have not been overdoing
things. What dont get done today, will wait till tommorrow.
What you said about your grandson, made me chuckle. I have a son like that. As soon as he comes in the house,he heads straight for the freezer,
opens it,closes it,and walks away. When I asked him why he did it,he didn't even realise he was doing it. Like you,I wouldn't mind, but he no longer lives at home. Cheeky so and so.
I have not been feeling to great today. I woke with a stinking cold, and I need a nose bag to catch the drips. Roly says he is going to keep a close eye on me,what with all this swine fever about. But it is only a cold, bless him for caring.
Thats enough of me waffling again. I will speak to you all later. Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx Special ~~~~~~~~~for Jean~~~~~~~~~

Hello All

A big welcome back to Jean glad you had a nice time. I hate all the washing when you been away but it has to be done. OH dosent do the packing or unpacking so seems to have a couple more days holiday.

Debbie how great your Son won great feeling for all. My Son got to two big finals before but didnt win either, mind you we were still proud watching him play at our local football grounds.

Mo your oh sounds like mine he makes more mess than both sons. He went away a couple of weeks ago and the house stayed tidy so I pointed this out on his return. He has got a sweet tooth and I find wrappers eveywhere.

Oh Huia your afternoon sound like fun (not) I know when they use to empty the septic tank at work I was glad we didnt have one at home. Hope it is sorted out quickly .

Marie hope you do celebrate your 70th in some way, I had a very difficult time just before I turned 40 a couple of years ago and told everyone I didnt want to do anything. But my sister inlaws and a couple of close friends took me out for a meal. It was low key but just what I needed, and looking back now I am gratefull to them.

Well it is a grey cold and a bit wet here which I dont mind today as I am at work allday. Kids are back to school . Eldest starts cricket tonight so I am hopeing he will enjoy that.

Yesterday was like a sceen from birds in my back garden. About 10 birds didnt leave my bird feeded alone untill they had cleared it of the food we had put out. Not sure what they were (medium size black) but they wouldnt let my robins or blue bird near. OH gets cross with me feeding the wild bird but I like to see them.

Well must go and get ready .

Bye for now Sue
