Hi everyone, I too thought I was losing the plot somewhat when I returned from holiday and couldn't find Jeans thread. It was a lovely chatty item, and no harm was being done, as far as I could see. It was nice to be able to keep up to date with people.

Anyway, let's hope something gets going again.

We returned on Sunday from a fantastic 2 week holiday in the New Forest. The children loved it and we had a great time visiting favourite places as well as a few new ones.

Off to school now to collect the children. Best wishes to everyone for a lovely weekend. Let's hope this glorious weather keeps up.

It's hard to understand why anyone would object to the thread. I kept referring to it to know who was who, as there are a lot of nice people on these boards, but it takes a while to get to know them all. I'm still learning!

I contributed to the thread, but since I learned this week that everyone in the world can read them just by googling, I'm not sure that I mind the thread being whooshed. Just don't know who requested that it be done, because if I wanted my details off it, all I had to do was delete my one posting.

If anyone objects to the thread, all they need to do is 'don't contribute to it'!

Mo, I had a reply re my request for reasons for the removal of certain threads and was told to read the Guidelines, which I did. At 19.49 I posted some of the things from the guidelines which we appear to have breached on most threads.
I then hit the Request review button for their sticky about trees and said as it is a duplicate thread and has been stuck there for over 4 months it should be removed. I am now waiting to be banned for being so cheeky.

If I disappear from the boards it will mean that I have been banned for daring to suggest that 'they' remove their sticky re tree access as it is a duplicate thread. If I do disappear and any nice people want my email addy Liz aka Purple has it.

I have looked at the rules for message board use.
1 we must communicate in English. My name is not English, and Taff is a Welsh name. I think Dutch is ok as it is the English name for somebody from a country beginning with N.
2 we must stick to the topic and we do tend to meander a bit.
3 we must not submit the same or similar material more than once.

That is just a few of the things where most of the topics are breaching the rules.
I am going to be hitting 'review' on a couple of the stickies.

MOinKENT - If you had made the remark to Daisey re where Jean was going, either to me or about me, I would NOT be offended. It is a usual remark to make, and if, as has been said, Jean was relying on her husband to take her there, then she wouldn't know where she was going, if that makes sense.

I don't think it was reported, it was not breaking any guide lines as far as I remember. People have had the same reply regarding the support thread for Daff and that was not controversial either. I think there is sometimes a glitch in the system or the admin fingers get itchy and press the wrong buttons, then trot out that stock reply.

I agree with Marilyn, there's just something strange going on. I was sent back to the log in screen twice this morning and so tried Family tree Forum, and a few people on the forum were having trouble with Genes.

I really don't think its anything to do with us or you. It looks like a lot of innocent threads are missing for no reason at all.

I 'm beginning to think I was fobbed off with GR reply.

Shimms had a perfectly good thread on reuniting with her long lost sister,it gave peeps a lot of hope in finding their rellies .and so informative . She is so upset it got whooshed.
So please don't blame yourself....... its all very strange.........

I am really concerned about Jeans thread going. I am wondering if it was my last coment,on the thread,which was not meant to be derogatory in any way. Daisy had asked Jean where she was going on her holiday. I
remarked that Jean did not know where she was going,apart from round the bend,as J was driving,and that she would know where she was going when she got there.
Do any of you think that this comment could have been,misconstrued in any way.If it was,I really did not mean it to be. Just me and my inane sense of humour,i am afraid. I don't think Jean would have taken offence
over it,and if anyone else did,then I am really sorry for any upset caused.
