I would love to go back, we had a short visit there when OH was on business. Loved Florence, Pisa was interesting as was Sienna and we also visited a lovely Hill town but can't remember the name of it. Keep saying we'll go back but don't get around to it.

It was amazing Rose - even though it rained - not one argument all week!
We all got on so well - it was me, my sister, our children, their partners and their children - that we're all off to stay in a farmhouse in Cornwall in June. :o)
My sister hates flying (she, her son, his partner and their baby took the train to Italy) so we decided to stay closer to home.
Sister & I spent a bit of our childhood in Cornwall and my dad's family all came from there - so I will be lurking around a few graveyards when I can get a lift!

Last year we (13 of us - 10 adults, one child and 2 babies) stayed in a villa just outside Terranuova Bracciolini.
It's just about equi distant between Florence and Pisa. 4 went by train, 1 flew into Florence and 8 flew into Pisa and stayed in a hotel there overnight.
The villa was a bit pricey, but between 10 of us it was manageable, and we found absolutely no reason to leave the place - it was beautiful, and the people wonderful!
Grand daughter and I slept in the oldest bit - the tower.
We could take what fruit & veg we wanted from the huge garden and there is a pizza oven under cover by the (rarely used) front door - future SIL baked the most beautiful bread in there, and we had an evening of making our own pizzas!!!

Here's one site on the villa - but there are others!

The 6th photo down (with the ladder by the door) is outside, under cover and is where the pizza oven is. The ladder is used for picking cherries off the trees! :o)

OH is anxious that we go to Pisa (cheapish flights from our local airport) - apparently it's very interesting and.........here's the rub...................the Vespa Museum is very close by - now I wonder why he suggested Pisa - lol

My favourite place! I love Italy - the people, the places, the food. Have been to Rome, Florence, Siena, Lake Garda, Verona and travelled around Tuscany. Hoping to go to Lake Como later this year.

We went last year Rose, and it's spectacular around the Amalfi coast - quite busy mind in season, but spectacular none the less.

We stayed in Sorrento and it was gorgeous, and then went to Naples (also Pompeii and Hurculaneum) and I wish I was back there now(((

The food was lush, the wine was lusher and the people were really lovely. Also, the railways travel on time and are amazingly cheap compared to here.

What more could you want? - get booking girl - you wont regret it!

Ah lovely photos, Rose....there is one villa with room for 16...think that might suit! lol Venice is the most magical place, in my opinion. I absolutely love it but prefer to go in winter or early spring when there are not so many tourists around. Sometimes Ryanair have flights for £5 so worth waiting for. `Wherever you decide, enjoy it. I am feeling the same way today, have got the wanderlust....it's all that sunshine!... BC XX

Have only been to Venice and Verona, Rose, but I have a Wish List on my kitchen wall, and amongst other things, I have marked a month in Umbria, in a villa large enough for a few friends and family. A driver to take us where we may fancy, and for those of us more active, bicycles:-) We would dine on fresh fish and ripe tomatoes and organic vegetables, lovingly cooked by Maria, and the best of Italian wine. Our sheets would be changed every day...er...that is as far as I have imagined! But if you don't wish you don't get:-) BC XX

ps on a realistic note, one of friends had a fantastic holiday along the Amalfi coast.....
