Clearing Hot Matches quickly how?

I have a tree of 250 and my hotmatches list has now reached 200 or more. There should be an option to only hot match on a match with the location content, dismissing those with no location given. I am just not going through them all one at a time discarding them because the location is the other side of the country or not given. Need some way of discarding them quickly at least.

I don't think you can stop Hot Matches, only opt not to receive a notification message.

If you only have a tree of 250 names then there shouldn't be a problem with the volume, unless they are very common names. You don't have to use them, if you don't find them helpful then simply don't bother with them.

My tree contains several thousand names and like DET I get a few new pages each time - takes me half an hour at most to go through and check, usually have a couple of possible contacts too.

Excellent idea, Paul. I find Firefox struggles to cope with the constant going backwards and forwards when I click on a name just to see the names, and I think the system should be simplified.

For instance, if you had 6 matches in common with a tree owner called John, I think it would be great if the list was headed "John - 6 matches" and then there was just a simple list saying Mary Smith b. 1850 Manchester, John Smith b. 1852 Manchester etc so it could be viewed quickly. Then, if they put a "discard" button next to "John - 6 matches" everything could be kept on one page and hundreds of non-matches could be removed at once.

Wish my William Taylor would get a Hot Match hit,Still hoping one of his family would be researching him as FIL was in a home from an early age and we know he had a sister and he never knew what happened to her !!

I have an Ann Smith and lots of Brown's in my tree and I get loads of hot matches from these all totally unconnected.
But please me why do we keep getting hot matches which match names that do not match with dates that dont match and places of birth which are so far apart that theycould be in space!!!!

Please GR would you present Hot Matches in a tabular form so that we can see the names and locations and quickly delete the non-matches on place.

It would be useful to be able to download them into a spreadsheet for sorting.

I would be pleased to be able to choose only those with an exact match on place as an option.

Many thanks

Pam
