To all those I have contacted and "Found" I am letting you know that I have deleted my tree and all my info, the consequences of Genes failure to ensure the "hide living relatives" filter was ACTUALLY working. It was not in my case and this has sadly caused a massive rift in my family which I am afraid to say will not go away and will probably take many months if not years to try and sort out. PLEASE learn form my mistake and DO NOT put living relatives on your tree. This is not actually my mistake but Genes total lack of management over the systems they implemented. Thank you to all who have helped in the past and thank you to all those who have responeded to this situation. there are other ways of find relatives and I will be using them from now on. Goodbye Everyone good luck in your search I hope you find what you are looking for.

Kind regards, Liz

What was their explanation or did you not get one?

I hope you can find a way to fix the rift in your family.

When I hide my living relatives can anyone see them?
You can opt to hide the details of living relations in your tree. If you go to the My Account page ( which can be accessed by the link in the top right hand corner of the page) under the Your Personal Details section you will see the option to hide living relations. You must choose 'yes' and then save the changes

Please note that even if you have privatised your tree, the full names and details of privatised relations will appear in search results for other members.(or should that be by other members?)
