Thankyou I wisked I had took more notice then but I now can see how he traced his family

If any of his ancestors were well-to-do and had a well known name (or a title), there would be plenty in the library (any library, you can order things), maybe thats how he did it.....otherwise he obviously found records somewhere. The man kicked to death by a horse, he probably knew that anyway as the family would have talked about it. Hopefully the Armarda isnt a family rumour.

Quite possibly true. I inherited a hand written book that a ggg aunt had written on tracing one side of my family. I though it could not be correct, but have been very surprised to find that most of it is, with minor corrections of dates and some spelling. This tree went back to Henry VIII time.

So do not dismiss anything, make notes of what you remember, then as you find things you can cross them off.

my father Harry 1913-1983 told me when he was growing up in Stoke Staffordshire he went to Library & graveyards & searched his family he told me this in the late 1960 that he traced the Family right back to the Spanish Armarda we come from Spain I know Queen Elizabeth the 1st reign then he could not go any futher no he never kept any records & yes I should of starting searching then not 40 years later however everything else he told us about his family is true Mothers side related to a politician Australian side who was Hung & even Grandad who was kicked to death by a Horse who one night had a drunken bet how did he trace that far back is there any one out there who knows Please do not tell me to go to Stoke as I have had the wrong Knee Replacement put in & awating corrective surgery So could this story be true ????
