Not sure he has the best version of that but not too bad
I think streets of London says it all when we all think of having a moan though.......
Have you seen the old man In the closed-down market Kicking up the paper, with his worn out shoes? In his eyes you see no pride And held loosely at his side Yesterday's paper telling yesterday's news
So how can you tell me you're lonely, And say for you that the sun don't shine? Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London I'll show you something to make you change your mind
Have you seen the old girl Who walks the streets of London Dirt in her hair and her clothes in rags? She's no time for talking, She just keeps right on walking Carrying her home in two carrier bags.
Chorus
In the all night cafe At a quarter past eleven, Same old man is sitting there on his own Looking at the world Over the rim of his tea-cup, Each tea last an hour Then he wanders home alone
Chorus
And have you seen the old man Outside the seaman's mission Memory fading with The medal ribbons that he wears. In our winter city, The rain cries a little pity For one more forgotten hero And a world that doesn't care
Chorus

coincidence......I just last week sent off for Roger Whittaker Cd...( the very best of ) and just for the one song.......
G I met my love by the gas works wall Dreamed a dream by the old canal I Kissed my girl by the factory wall Dirty old town Dirty old town
Clouds are drifting across the moon Cats are prowling on their beat Spring's a girl from the streets at night Dirty old town Dirty old town
( Solo vers ) ( C )
G I Heard a siren from the docks Saw a train set the night on fire I Smelled the spring on the smoky wind Dirty old town Dirty old town
I'm gonna make me a big sharp axe Shining steel tempered in the fire I'll chop you down like an old dead tree Dirty old town Dirty old town
I met my love by the gas works wall Dreamed a dream by the old canal I kissed my girl by the factory wall Dirty old town Dirty old town Dirty old town Dirty old town
He also sings He aint heavy he's my brother, Streets of London, Durham Town,The last farewell amongst others.

Janey check out "Last Farewell" sung by Roger Whittaker. It's a lovely bitter-sweet song. I don't like everything he sings but I do like that and the other song.

D'you know I never had an idea of what the lyrics to that "I don't believe in If" were? Roger Whittaker, pretty background music. I'll just have to listen to it now.

A commenter there says:
"B***** h*** i just became a Roger Whittaker music lover, no wonder my dad loved his music, is this an age thing? i am getting older."
and
"Used to play on the radio when I was a kid. Didn't really like this song. Now I love it, it now has a meaning. Also a voice like warm treacle."

Now if you load your rifle right And if you fix your bayonet so And if you kill that man my friend The one we call the foe And if you do it often lad And if you do it right You'll be a hero overnight You'll save your country from her plight Remember God is always right If you survive to see the sight A friend now greeting foe No you won't believe in If anymore It's an illusion It's an illusion No you won't believe in If anymore If is for children If is for children Building daydreams If I knew then what I know now (I thought I did you know somehow) If I could have the time again I'd take the sunshine leave the rain If only time would trickle slow Like rain that melts the fallen snow If only Lord if only If only Lord if only Oh I don't believe in If anymore It's an illusion It's an illusion No I don't believe in If anymore If is for children If is for children Building daydreams No I don't believe in If anymore It's an illusion It's an illusion No I don't believe in If anymore If is for children If is for children Building daydreams

in fancy food or foreign cars; that Hagen Dazs and motherhood have done my body any good; that Elvis is alive and well; that courtesy has gone to hell; that kindness is in short supply; that little kids should have to die. But I believe in love. I believe in dreamers. I believe in miracles and I believe in you. Well, I don't believe virginity is as common as it used to be; that left is wrong and right is right; that black is black and white is white; that the Beatles could be history, the sixties just a memory; that war will never go away; that Johnny Carson's had his day. But I believe in love. I believe in angels. I believe in Mom and Dad and I believe in you. I know with almost certainty what's going on with you and me is a good thing. I know it's true. I believe in you. Now, I don't believe that heaven waits for only those who congregate. I like to think that God is love. He's down below, He's up above, and He's watching people everywhere. He knows who does and doesn't care. And I'm an ordinary girl trying to make my way in this old world. And I believe in love. Yes, I believe in music. I believe in promises and I believe in you. Well, I know with almost certainty what's going on with you and me is a good thing, a good thing. And I know it's true. I believe in you. You know, darlin', that I believe in love. Yes, I believe in dreamers. I believe in miracles and I believe in you. Woah-ho-ho-oh, baby, I believe. Yes, I believe. I believe in promises and I believe in you. Woah, come on, baby, say you believe in love. Say you believe in dreamin'. Believe in blue, blue skies, 'cause I believe in you . . .
