If his name wasn't on the birth certificate then there is not a lot of hope in finding his name....At best you could only guess.

Hi Sheila, This could be Elsies' birth record; -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Births Dec 1909
NEWTON Elsie Congleton 8a 277 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandbach is a district of Congleton, situated about 5 miles east of Congleton.
The birth cert should give her fathers name..
I've had a look on the 1911 census for you; This is the closest in birth date & location for Elsie;
Name: Relationship to head: Marital Status: Years married: Sex: Age in 1911: Occupation: Where born: NEWTON, WILLIAM HEAD MARRIED M 27 COAL LOADER UNDERGROUND FENTON STAFFORDSHIRE NEWTON, ALICE WIFE MARRIED 7 F 27 FENTON STAFFS NEWTON, SARAH ANN DAUGHTER F 6 FENTON STAFFS NEWTON, GLADYS DAUGHTER F 5 FENTON STAFFS NEWTON, ELSIE DAUGHTER F 3 FENTON STAFFS NEWTON, ADA DAUGHTER F 1 FENTON STAFFS
NEWTON ELSIE (RG14PN16584 RG78PN1024 RD361 SD3 ED14 SN109) Address 49 JERVIS ST FENTON STOKE-ON-TRENT County Staffordshire District Stoke upon Trent Subdistrict Fenton Enumeration District 14 Parish Fenton
But they may have lived with him under his surname. Obtaining the birth cert will either affirm or dismiss this family.
Regards, Steve.

Hi Sheila, Having looked at this again in the cold light of day. I don't think the 1911 census entry above is your Elsie.
This entry is much more likely to be her. But her father isn't shown as a member of the household. This Elsie is shown living with her Auntie & Uncle.
Name: Relationship to head: Marital Status: Years married: Sex: Age in 1911: Occupation: Where born: NEWTON, DAVID HEAD MARRIED M 60 GARDENER DOMESTIC CHESHIRE SANDBACH NEWTON, ELIZA WIFE MARRIED 40 F 60 CHESHIRE SANDBACH NEWTON, ELIZA DAUGHTER SINGLE F 32 BOOT MACHINIST CHESHIRE SANDBACH NEWTON, MARY JANE DAUGHTER SINGLE F 28 PAPER BAG MAKER CHESHIRE SANDBACH NEWTON, FRANK SON SINGLE M 22 WIRE WORKER CHESHIRE SANDBACH NEWTON, ELSIE NIECE ...................................................... Hi Sheila, There is also another birth record for a Elsie Newton.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Births Mar 1910 NEWTON Elsie Congleton 8a 373 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This Elsie is unlikely to be the one your looking for. As this one ties in well with this 1911 census entry;
Name: Relationship to head: Marital Status: Years married: Sex: Age in 1911: Occupation: Where born: NEWTON, WILLIAM H HEAD MARRIED M 28 BRICKLAYERS LABOURER SANDBACH NEWTON, EDNA WIFE MARRIED 4 F 29 KENT GREEN NEWTON, HENRY SON M 4 SANDBACH NEWTON, ELSIE DAUGHTER F 1 SANDBACH
NEWTON ELSIE (RG14PN21745 RG78PN1296 RD448 SD3 ED12 SN184) Address 38 UNION ST SANDBACH County Cheshire District Congleton Subdistrict Sandbach Enumeration District 12 Parish Sandbach
This means that the 1st birth registry I posted, ties in well with the 1911 census record I posted today at 15:12.
Regards, Steve.
