Hey All,
Not sure if anyone can help me with this one, but thought I'd try here seems it's history related.

Near-by is a place called Six Bells, part of Abertillery in Blaenau Gwent, Wales. It's a popular part of Abertillery, and I spend a lot of time over there due to family etc. Recently, a question has been raised in the local newspaper asking where the name "Six Bells" actually came from, and no one seems to know.

Is there any one local who would know the reason to the name, or would any one know how to find out?

All help is grateful!

Thanks
Mathew

It seems that is the six million dollar question,I have just Googled it and came up with 3.One it was named after old pud named Six Bells But surely that just leads you to ask why was pub called that?second was to do with mining and ringing of bell 6times warning of coal "trucks" coming up or down.or 3 after a coal manager had 6 daughters ie 6 Belles. So you see you have alot to choose from.
