It always does, Deb. We've often commented on that!

Years ago, we were coming home in the car after a fortnight by the sea. 7 year old Lizzy asked 'Are you still looking for Northampton, Dad?'

It never occured to us that the child didn't know we used maps. She thought we just drove round for hours until we found our destination. Sometimes, though, there was a grain of truth in that.

Perhaps all that flying makes them so serene that they are too relaxed to have a heart attack. I've always wished I could fly - and not in an aeroplane. Perhaps it is because my maiden name was BIRD!

Back to puzzling questions, Aileen

I have one:

Why is it, with all the millions of birds in the sky, that I - in all my fifty odd years - have never seen one fall out of the sky: dead? Surely birds have heart attacks?

Silly Sausage Report 27 Aug 2009 23:09

Can't see them but we HEAR them in the tree outside our kitchen window.

They are wood pigeons. They've just decided they need a new nest (like on another thread of people wanting new ktichens) and have thrown all the debris onto the lawn.

You never see 'baby' birds of any sort except in the nest. They don't leave the nest until they are fully feathered and fledged. So the pigeons in your garden right now could be juveniles, only weeks old.

Why is there always a teaspoon at the end of the washing up?

Gypsy Report 27 Aug 2009 22:15

Because they stay in the nest untill they are almost adults.

Ask a question that has always puzzled you and someone will give you the answer..... won't you all?

Let's see how intelligent we are all on here. So an easy one to start and then it is over to you lot.

Why do you never see baby pigeons?
