I am still trying to find somewhere to holiday in three week's time and have found some nice properties at the above places to rent, would I enjoy spending time there?

I want a beach to walk on sometimes, nice restaurants and shops to eat in and browse, during the day or evening, and brightly lit places to walk to the restaurant so we(I) don't have to drive and can have a drink or two. I don't mind driving some of the time to see other places in the area but most days I just want to relax and wander if I am feeling well enough. O.h. can go out for his bracing walks while I am still snoozing, seperate rooms stop him from disturbing me.

Any info please would help me decide
Am hoping it will be Indian Summer weather lol

Thanks all, lots of info to consider there. He was too busy getting ready to go out to his Dad's family day tomorrow, to look at any details today. It's his father's birthday, but I don't like the family and as we only have one car on the road now, he will go mid morning before I am up. Even his son, the eldest grandson, isn't bothering, he has arranged something else instead and had forgotten it was his grandfather's birthday so I won't be the only one missing! The stepsons and their families aren't going this year either! Says it all really. Since I only get a notelet written on as a birthday card from the father and stepmum, and o.h.'s sisters 'keep forgetting' my birthday, they can get on with it without me! The whole lot of them are selfish!

Ooops, sorry, rambling on there.....

I did look on holidays abroad last night altho he says he hates flying and hasn't wanted to go abroad lately, and today I went into travel agent. We could get two weeks in Corfu, self catering, (he doesn't like hotels or b and b and it doesn't fit in with my need to sleep late at times) for £720 the two of us, which is about the same as two week's rental costs and perhaps a bit of petrol, but I need to get him in the right frame of mind to discuss that lol
Will wait till he gets back Sunday evening and hope he has had a few drinks, altho he will be driving the idiot, not something I can do anything about, but he might be a bit mellow!
Such restrictions now when you enquire tho, are you going to want meals on the plane, will you be taking more than 15 kilos of luggage lol (£15 for an extra 5kg to make it up to what used to be the norm, 20kg!) I used to struggle with keeping it down to 20 and when I went to Malta with Ryanair and had to stick to 15 kg I took out more than I took in the end lol
Oh well, don't suppose I will get any joy of the foreign idea anyway, worth a try perhaps, but if not, and I get to Kent I will try and arrange a minimeet with some of you I hope.
Three weeks today, will I be in Kent and settling in to a holiday home or packing ready for foreign climes?

I have confused myself even more now, was really feeling good about the Corfu option all ready to persuade o.h. (I found his passport and he only has a year left on it so was going to say it was worth using it once more to try out foreign climes lol). Then I googled the place we would be staying at! Omg, I couldn't believe it, altho apparently the owner, one Spiros, hence the name of the apartment, is a wonderful man who is the life and soul of the place and keeps his pool immaculate, the state of the apartments seems to leave a lot to be desired. No way would I risk going there and having o.h. moaning all the time, and in truth I don't think I would cope well if they lived down to the reviews lol
Google Spiros no 1 apartments, Roda, Corfu for a laugh!

I am actually really disappointed! Was imagining myself soaking up the sun......

Oh well back to Kent...

Does look as if the apartments are very basic Liz, although some people gave better reviews than others so I guess it depends which apartment you end up with. Also the reviews I saw were for 2008. You can't tell if they have refurbished, but I suspect better not to risk it.

Ann in Glos, I did find some reviews for Spiros' aptmts that were this year but they still weren't great. I told o.h. about it when he came in from his day out, and before I could mention the reviews he said book it, tried to talk to him about options abroad, but he was tired altho he has done nothing but sit by the river all day with his family and he said we would have a look at more cottages etc in a mo. Next minute he was fast asleep and has now gone up to bed!!!
I got a reply from one person in Eastbourne I think she was, and her cottage is currently subject to a legal issue over the lettings!!! so can't let it. She recommended me to a friend of hers who has an apartment overlooking the water, it's similar to the places we stayed in at Llanelli and we loved them and had already put it on our list of possibles, so I have just mailed her and asked for a price for the weeks we want, she is fully booked either side tho so might not be so keen to give us a reduction as she is doing so well with it.
Have another enquiry pending reply and am still thinking Whitstable too, and will also have a look at 'abroad' while he is amenable to the idea! Works out cheaper too actually and less hassle with no driving and hopefully warmer weather?
My head is still spinning, thanks all for your input, it has helped, and yes we did find some nice places in Ramsgate too so also on the list.

Lizx who is in for a quiet evening as well as the day lol have to make myself some late dinner now - his tiredness overcame his hunger!

Thanks to newbie Carol, welcome to the madhouse, and glad you felt able to post on my thread. You aren't butting it, I appreciate the feedback. I had heard Ramsgate was nice too, and knew Margate was a bit scruffy as we went to o.h.'s uncle's funeral a long time back. We did stop off somewhere to change clothing and I can't recall where it was now, but I thought it wasn't as nice a place as I had expected, it might have been just as we got into Margate, we had to go to his Uncle's house first so wore comfy clothes for the drive and changed into more sombre clothes in a loo enroute.

I have just had a reply about a house in Broadstairs asking me to phone the owner so will see what she says, re special price for late deal. Am waiting for reply from Eastbourne posh apartment owner, Sovereign Harbour I think it is called, apartments similar to the ones we stayed in when we visited Llanelli. Am also going to go back to Travel agent and see what else they can come up with. Less than three weeks to go now so getting worried we will have to take pot luck lol

Will keep you posted and if I do get to Kent, will sort out a minimeet.
