I am still trying to find somewhere to holiday in three week's time and have found some nice properties at the above places to rent, would I enjoy spending time there? |

Thanks all, lots of info to consider there. He was too busy getting ready to go out to his Dad's family day tomorrow, to look at any details today. It's his father's birthday, but I don't like the family and as we only have one car on the road now, he will go mid morning before I am up. Even his son, the eldest grandson, isn't bothering, he has arranged something else instead and had forgotten it was his grandfather's birthday so I won't be the only one missing! The stepsons and their families aren't going this year either! Says it all really. Since I only get a notelet written on as a birthday card from the father and stepmum, and o.h.'s sisters 'keep forgetting' my birthday, they can get on with it without me! The whole lot of them are selfish! |

I have confused myself even more now, was really feeling good about the Corfu option all ready to persuade o.h. (I found his passport and he only has a year left on it so was going to say it was worth using it once more to try out foreign climes lol). Then I googled the place we would be staying at! Omg, I couldn't believe it, altho apparently the owner, one Spiros, hence the name of the apartment, is a wonderful man who is the life and soul of the place and keeps his pool immaculate, the state of the apartments seems to leave a lot to be desired. No way would I risk going there and having o.h. moaning all the time, and in truth I don't think I would cope well if they lived down to the reviews lol |

Does look as if the apartments are very basic Liz, although some people gave better reviews than others so I guess it depends which apartment you end up with. Also the reviews I saw were for 2008. You can't tell if they have refurbished, but I suspect better not to risk it. |

Ann in Glos, I did find some reviews for Spiros' aptmts that were this year but they still weren't great. I told o.h. about it when he came in from his day out, and before I could mention the reviews he said book it, tried to talk to him about options abroad, but he was tired altho he has done nothing but sit by the river all day with his family and he said we would have a look at more cottages etc in a mo. Next minute he was fast asleep and has now gone up to bed!!! |

Thanks to newbie Carol, welcome to the madhouse, and glad you felt able to post on my thread. You aren't butting it, I appreciate the feedback. I had heard Ramsgate was nice too, and knew Margate was a bit scruffy as we went to o.h.'s uncle's funeral a long time back. We did stop off somewhere to change clothing and I can't recall where it was now, but I thought it wasn't as nice a place as I had expected, it might have been just as we got into Margate, we had to go to his Uncle's house first so wore comfy clothes for the drive and changed into more sombre clothes in a loo enroute. |
