We have my daughter and grandson staying with us for a few days and this morning we left the house at 9.30 am and went to the market at Ford in West Sussex then back to Southsea to watch the kite festival on the common, we then headed to the bandstand to watch the Take That and Abba tribute bands that were performing there, it was quite windy but great atmosphere and all this for free.....................with tummys now rumbling we went and have a lovely roast at our favourite place down at the Hard in Portsmouth and then headed home and who got stuck in the traffic as Pompey were playing Manchester City and as l live quite near the ground it took ages to get home. OH and daughter have gone for a zzzzzzz
and no doubt will be dropping in the chair in a minute as it has been a long day, lol.

Well, have just got back from the Agricultural Show, now renamed Country Show, as there was no livestock. Pity, I missed them, but not many shows have reintroduced this feature since the foot and mouth debacle. It did not deter me from having a little spend. Got a 'Pringle' gillet in cream suedy type fabric. It was marked up at £40, which I thought was quite reasonable, when I went to pay, she said there was 20% off the price, so I got it for £32. Never owned anything by Pringle before.
Bought all sorts of other things also. Some of the Irish Blue Cheese - Cashel, some Port and Cranberry Conserve to go with it, and some special home made bread, although OH does our own. I also bought two danglements to hang from my kitchen hall door jaumbs, made from dried orange rings and cinnamen (sp) sticks. I do like me danglements, and have quite a collection or assorted wind chimes in the garden, and a collection of different coloured lanterns in a sambucca tree.
I also got a gorgeous long scarf in purple and silver colour with fringes on and in a paisley pattern, but it was not glittery. It was only £5.
I was disapointed there was not more 'country' type tents, selling leather goods. I am still after an Alexi Polizi bag, and would possibly have bought some proper leather boots.
After going all round the exhibits and OH commenting that walking across the field was more like October than August, we have come back for a good warm and a cup of decent rea.
Still ,we have the delights of the Hog Roast tomorrow to look forward to, weather permitting.

Edit; We watched a young very clever Chinese man carve rose buds out of slices of carrot and also slices of cucumber. Very good

Winter Drawers Ever Near

Winter Drawers Ever Near Report 30 Aug 2009 13:58

On a ten day break from work which started on Friday. Well I got one day of peace!

Yesterday had the grandkids and the giant mutt for 14hrs while their parents (my offspring and their other halves) went to Thorpe Park for the day.

Today, doing a roast for hubby and myself as I am usually working on a Sunday and don't seem to have the time for one normally.

Tonight, I'll be upstairs watching cable tv and deciding what to iron and pack for our 4 night holiday with the grandkids tomorrow down in Sussex.

Denims, t shirts, denims, t shirts......sorted! Oh what am I doing. Sling it all in the case and take the iron with me.

Bottle of wine and settle down on here until going to bed at a reasonable time.

Good Morning Joy. yesterday we had the eldest Grandaughter for the day. So yesterday afternoon, OH, ever the indulgent Grandad, took her to PC World and bought her a new lappy. And he is only her step-grandad at that. I had to buy mine a couple of years ago out of me lump sum pension. Not bad for some is it.
Today, after I have cleared up, OH and myself are going to an Agricultural show a few miles up the road, until it starts to shower with rain.
Tomorrow, hopefully, and we are going to a Hog Roast, weather permitting. Whatever you are all doing, have a good time.
See you all later
