Does anyone out there have a teenage son suffering hair loss? my son, 18 is losing hair, lots on pillow every day. He is anxious about this . There is M P B in my family but not in any male this young. Ive suggested seeing his doctor to rule out any health issues but he finds it hard to face. Any advice apart from wigs and caps? |

Sorry to hear this Catherine. I lost all my hair at the age of 15, alopecia totallis. There are various degres of this disease, alopecia universalis, totallis, areata, etc etc. The first is all hair, the 2nd the hair on the head and the 3rd is when it falls out in patches. |

thanks Bernie my Boy and Debbie K for your advice. I am going to persuade him to go to the docs, im sure you are right, he should have some tests to rule out any health issues. I know he is finding it hard to face , difficult at his age but it has to be done. Will keep you posted thanks for your concern. |

You are handling it the correct way. I went through hell in the 1950s, people then were not so tolerant as today. People with glasses were called 4 eyes, people with calipers due to Polio were called robots, etc. etc. I have a Downs grandson and he is in mainstream schooling and he gets on fine. It may be bad for your son, I don't really know but if he is strong enough he could face them out, shave the lot off and tell his mates he's had a number zero. |
