my great grand father was illigitamate but was taken in by a couple then took the husband of the couple sur name when getting married ware can i go or get info to see if this couple addoped him after birth have the name of his birth mother regarss tom |

When are you talking about? Adoption as we see it today didn't become legalised until 1927. |

I've got a similar situation with my grandmother: I believe that her parents died and she was bought up by an aunt, taking their surname. |
