Sounds good to me.

Didn't know mash came without lumps.... apart from when my son comes to visit. I make him carve the meat as well because OH is always no where to be seen!!

I have one & feel it makes really smooth mash potato, it's especially useful when making potato croquettes.

I find mashing in the ordinary way and then putting in the microwave for about 2minutes will make a nice fluffy mash. I do that when it needs to be a bit warmer when I've dished up everything else.

I love my potato ricer, but don't use it all the time. It is really good for the topping on shepherd's pie or cottage pie. It comes out really light and fluffy.

I have to admit, I don't use it for everyday though, still use the masher.

with a ricer you can mash tatties with the skins on
and you only get the mash out of them
its a hand held press with a sieve like action

looks like a giant garlic press

errrrrrrr, do you shred the spud on a ricer in it's raw state or cooked?????

Don't think they are for poshies Mel.There are just no lumps and a very smooth mash.My sister would like one I think as she gags if she finds a lump in mash lol

I am still happy with my new masher on a spring.It is very good and doesn't make my wrist ache lol.I don't think I have seen a potato ricer!!

Ah Carol, I am keeping my trusty masher just in case I do not get on with the ricer, but cannot summonds up the 'elbow grease' to get the power behind it these days. The ricer makes long strips of potato, in much the same way as if you had used a cheese grater. This suits us on top of a Shepherds Pie, as it is stodgy.
