years ago Laddo decided to pull the tv over on himself and thankfully he wasnt hurt but did crack the front casing of the TV.

Tonight Tiddler went into her room and then screamed and cried and I thought laddo was upsetting her again (thats the norm at the moment) but when I went in she had pulled her chest of draws over and the Tv (a large one) had fallen off onto her.

Shes hurt her leg and given herself a real fright and is quieter than normal but is laid in my bed falling asleep.

Is it only my children that do these silly things , please tell me its not

That is a heavy thing to fall on a child Dawnie, I assume her leg is OK? Hope she gets over the shock soon.

Hi Dawnie, sadly, no it's not, there have been reports of children killed in this way, quite frequently.

Thank heavens it was only her leg she hurt, and we weren't hearing worse news.

Shes alseep now and yes it was heavy think she saw it falling and ran to the back wall so just clipped her. Shes definitely in our room tonight and sure if she makes the tiniest of noises i will be awake, whats the betting that she has one of her nights of talking and laughing in her sleep and keeps me awake all night.

Makes us realise how complacent we get with the safety aspect of things round the house

Yes, we do take things for granted but how did the drawers topple? Did she try to climb up them? Don't go blaming yourself, you can't have eyes in the back of your head.

Ann she opened all the drawers (5 of them) so toppled forward.

Hubby has put it all back but we will be getting her a new set of draws as he says they look like they are starting to fall t pieces, have had them since eldest was a baby mum and dad bought them for us from a 2nd hand shop so have served us well.

Hi Dawnie

Hope your Tiddler is feeling better

This reminds me of what happened to my sister some years ago,

Mum was downstairs and heard a lound crash, ran up to my sister's room and found her under the wardrobe, she had tried to reach something on the top and pulled the wardrobe over. She wasn't badly hurt, a few bruises and crying.

Kids never change do they

Hopefully now she has learned her lesson not to open all the drawers at once, and you can also make sure everything is safe when you get the new drawers, it doesn't matter how old or new they are, they will topple if made to unbalance. You could look on Gumtree for something different, lots of people sell or give away very good quality furniture.
Hope you get some sleep and she is ok Dawnie.

I hope Tiddler is OK Dawnie, with no after effects of her mishap.

It was my youngest who was always into scrapes. Perhaps it was because she wanted to be as 'big' as the older two.
We too had an accident with a TV stand, with the resulting blood everywhere.
Another time she was watching the older 2 play Scalextrix and was perched on a cabin bed...until she fell off and broke her arm. At A & E they asked if we had attended within the last year...... One feels so guilty having to admit that we had. We always seemed to be there with that child, - now a very responsible 'normal' adult!

Reading these stories made me realize how many memories I have of falling down the stairs. It must have been my hobby at one time I think!

No Dawnie- , one of my nieces pulled a dolls house over on her.self
Her Dad had spent ages making it for her for Christmas, had to do it on the quiet , so she did not know.
Christmas morning, she was thrilled, but it only lasted a few hours, she pulled it over and broke the dolls house. She managed to get out of the way, but the dolls house was in pieces.
Her poor old Dad, months of hard work gone in a flash.

I used to fall down the stairs, too! When I was about 13 my Mum fell over a flagstone in the street, broke her nose, blood everywhere. Took her to Emergency. Cam e home and young brother came in, took one look at Mum, and fainted, split his head open, needed stitches, so off to the hospital again! Nurses asked if I was going out collecting patients for them!
